I need help. I love the way F4 99s skate, but I keep getting really bad flat spots within the first few sessions.

Are you taking them straight to smooth skateparks? My suggestion would be break them in on some hills, rough streets.

I've inly ever had very minimal flat spotting on F4s and when I have they can be smoothed out with use very quickly. Now that I think about it, I can't remember my last flat spot.

I like Bones SPF, but I’ve had several bad injuries from slipping out on them. I wasn’t a huge fan of the X formula

Are there any other wheels out there that are similar to Spitfires that don’t flat spot so easily? I’ve never tried OJ elites, are those any more durable?

I used to get close to a year out of my F4s, but the newer batches that are more white have not been great. Let me know what’s been working for you

OJ Elite is a good formula, a bit grippier than F4 in my opinion, plus they feel harder. A great park wheel. I've only tried the 99 duro, feels hard and fast enough. Haven't flatspotted them yet.

The 101a Elites [hardline shape] are my park wheel of choice. Hard, fast and grippy (but still break free when you want, just not icy like SPF/101A spits).

Just curious, what are you skating that flat spotting them? I’ve had that ‘issue’ doing a bunch of lipslides on brushed concrete and it wasn’t noticeable until I skated smooth polished concrete that same day, then I’d hear the brap. They’d skate out within one session though.

More often than not it’s from hitting a pebble. I’ve flat spotted two sets from sliding out on slick concrete. I pretty much only skate bowls nowadays. I can deal with small flat spots, but the ones I’ve been getting are so bad that my board is significantly slower. I almost ate shit a few times just dropping in because the flat spot was so bad

I'd be ready to wager a hefty sum that the OJ Elites are pretty effin' hard to flatspot on slick concrete. Never happened to me, and I've ridden bowls on them a whole lot. The Hardline shape, like Xen mentioned, is a great shape for trannies. 99 or 101, both will work fine.

That sucks. Have the flats skated out yet? If you’ve been on them for some time after and they’re still brapping, definitely hit them up for a warranty claim. I’ve only had one pair that really flat spotted and wouldn’t ride out easily and that was right about all the Covid shit was going on. The pairs of had were all a potato color but this set was more of a coffee with a shit ton of creamer color. Something in that batch got screwed up so it occasionally happens. DLX is great on warranty claims.

IDK if it was an official policy but I was told if you ever flatspot F4 you can bring them into your local and exchange for a new set and DLX will just give the local a set in the next shipment. It worked for me at 35th North. I literally put the wheels on and did a low key hillbomb power slide and got a flat spot on both rear wheels.

How is normal use of wheels an user error? Or instead they should mention on the wheel package to "carefully break in before sliding" or some shit.  ;D

Obviously it's all CYA language and nowhere does it say they art flatspot resitant (which is why DLX is such a good company and handles it anyway, even when people abuse the system).

It is not normal to do a quick speed check on a smooth surface and have 2 wheels flat spot. I've talked to someone at DLX about this and they do not 100% guarantee that you cannot flat spot an F4, but flatspot resistance is a selling point of the formula and every case is different. In my case the shop knew the street and knew that I'm not going mach 69 and doing a speed check on rust belt asphalt.

The shop owner was the one that informed me of that policy. I was going to keep riding them honestly. Thought it was bad luck or I was an idiot. DLX seemed to agree that a wheel that is that new shouldn't flat. A 6 month old set? Probably not, that's egregious.

They claim that f4 is highly and unmatched flatspot resistant which says to me they should be able to take speed checks,  slides etc. really well. so I dont see it being normal your wheels to flatspot right away.

Yeah that's not normal for an F4. I rode F4 formula for many years and literally never flatspotted any wheels, granted I weigh 150lb on a heavy day.

I’m sure this has been covered before but would you guys say the shape difference between Spitfire Conical (not Full) and Radial (not Slim) is pretty minimal?

I’m having trouble finding either at my local but am looking to jump on a set as soon as I see one.

Dims for a 54mm are:

Conical
Width: 32.2
Riding: 20.2

Radial
Width: 34
Riding: 20

Apart from these minimal differences, i guess a radial is slightly heavier because of the conical cut on the Conicals and a rounder profile on the Radials

The radials have a rounded lip, the conicals are more squared. That's probably the biggest difference performance wise, but I bet it's so minimal not many people would be able to tell the difference in a double-blind testing scenario.

Been giving some 60mm Dragons a serious seeing to. Mostly sliding on hillbombs but I put them on to skate some really old crusty Oregon coast skateparks this last week and they worked great. Can't wait to see how the Spitfire 93s compare for rugged (exposed aggregate) giant crusty bowls...

Oh and I chunked and sliced the shit out of all of them. No impact on 'performance' but my goal is to destroy them.

I’m really pining for some black wheels, but I’d be foolish to buy anymore seeing as I already have plenty.

Seen mfs dyeing their wheels with RIT synthetic and their fixative.
Look :) like my best bet, but I can’t seem to find a source for them in Europe.

Anyone got intel?

Yes, I know. I love Navs. Great style. Love his instagram posts, doing old some old school street stuff :)

But does anyone have a source for RIT Synthetic in Europe or know of a similar product that does the same thing?

I'm in New Zealand and I use "Dyemore" IDye poly. Works really well. Go easy on the dye - it's strong stuff.

The 93a Dragons aren’t Bones, they’re Powell.

Only bones x97\97a dragon formula really has crossover.

Anyone have 97a Nanocubics?
Are they coning? How much do they widen a truck, say compared to a Bones V6 shape?
