Isn’t the durometer supposed to stop at 100 or something like that ? That’s why I was a bit curious about those 103 wheels.
Anyway, I may try the 99 spitfire but the prices in Europe are insane (75euros more or less)
I really enjoy my spitfire soft sliders but those wheels were so easy to slide… are the new 97 harder to slide than 99 spits? I wonder if it could be best of both worlds

I found the new 97 spittys very grippy on skatepark concrete, really good slide on rougher asphalt.
 Im currently using the 97s for curbs and rougher street spots, 99a F4 everywhere else.

Sounds like I should try some 99 F4 at some point! I’ll see if I find classics or conical to have some good all around wheels , not too heavy.

go for the 88a dragons man, you won't find a wheel that soft that's gonna slide as good. make sure you get them 56mm+ in size and nice and wide. I tried to do a small setup with the 88s in little 52mm size and they sucked at keeping speed.

The 82a snakes in a 59mm are not to be disregarded either. Probably don't slide as well as the 88a Dragons but they smash through everything and you can break them into power slides pretty easy. Not super durable though.

First impression: slightly softer x97.

Coming back to this thread for another reason, but as no one else has replied, I am going to add my own experience here.

As you probably know, all the old 97 duro options are being replaced with the new 97 duro options but as to who, when, where and all that, it is way harder than anyone might think.

My example of here, our local distributor still has a lot of stock of many variants of the 97 duro, so there are none of those options even in the country in the new 97 duro formula, the one exception being one specific size and shape that was restocked (which has already sold out) and of course the new Pedro pro wheel.

As this is not USA, it doesn't really help you a whole lot, but any number of shops or even intermediate distribution businesses could be in the same situation, where they are still sitting on the old 97 formula and are not even thinking of ordering more until these ones sell out first.

The Spitfire thread had some people saying they saw or got some here and there, but off the top of my head, the only shop that was known to have some of the new ones was 35th Ave as per 144p being on the forums and letting people know, which then sold out very quickly I think, as I just checked stock levels and I don't see those options in stock, just the other shapes and sizes, possibly older ones.

Maybe giving a few shops a call or message you do usually deal with, if you can't go in there in person, might be a good way to try to track some down, but otherwise even trying to contact DLX directly and ask if they could point you in the right direction, maybe as a last resort.


The fact that it is still the same everything, just a new sticker on the outside of the packaging which can easily come off, means that they can be very painful to try to track down at this point, but as wheels start to sell, things get restocked and all that, there might be a few more options and shops might have more wheels available for you.

I got these v5 58mm.  I am very happy how well it rolls over crust although it has more to do with the 58mm than the 95a durometer.  Yes you can slide them but of course they dont slide as well as 97x or 99x.  They slide more like dragons in that you just gotta adjust to the slide.  For me I use them as a cruiser wheel cos I am never gonna like skating a very soft wheel.  I wish I was a technical enough skater to give more details on how they work with tech tricks but Im not on that level yet.  Overall a better wheel than the dragons imo.

Break into a slide easily and much smoother on the rough stuff. They won't eat up everything, at least not at this size, but a big improvement from the 93a dragons I was using. More sticky sliding metal than concrete but I'm not trying to skate dragons in a skatepark and rarely encounter metal curbs in the wild. So yeah, basically echoing what was already said on here. Highly recommended. Now I'm curious about the snakes and g slides. Dammit.

I am trying the new drop of 100a loophole wheels

The formula is proper and does what its supposed to do they just feel a little bit soft and grippy compared to F4s. Also switched from 56mm classics to 54mm conical shape

I have a set of these and I do like em quite a bit on most surfaces but they are flat out deadly at the indoor park.  I couldn't even take a push without them sliding out.

I keep hearing about Powell dragons and bones x formula. How are they? I've skated spitfires my whole life but I figure I might as well try something else for once. Also what bones is closest to f4 conical fulls

Yoooooo, apologies for the D- response time. I think it depends on what you intend to use them for/value more; cruising or trickery. For this setup, cruising is my main while actual tricks are my side bitch. The 40mm width makes the board noticeably heavier and more work to flip. Great for popping over sewer caps, 180's, shoves, crack-a-nollies, etc but I'm not really trying to flip this thing coming from 52mm dragons and tablets. Battling crust here and I think the trade off is worth it for me, ymmv of course. Also, at first I was like these wide softies don't break into a slide as well as I hoped, within an hour they slid perfect. Look weird on 8.25 trucks too but I'm used to it now. Hope that helps!

  They're awesome if you want a softer wheel that slides like a harder wheel. I'm in the Northeast and besides a couple tennis courts, everywhere I skate has mediocre to horrible ground. My main wheels are the 54mm 93 Dragons and I absolutely love them. I also have 56mm 88 Dragons for the really bad spots. The 88's are basically a cruiser wheel except they slide! The other big advantage is that they're just easier on my feet/legs than a hard wheel and I can skate longer because of them. I haven't skated a hard wheel in like 6 months. My Son rides 52mm X-formula 99's and swears by them. If they ever make an X-formula 95a in the double lock shape, I'll probably buy them.

Like a lot of you, I was a Spitfire man for me entire skateboarding life, but I switched to some Bones Dragons 95a wheels for an alternative on a "rough spot" and never found any need to take them off. I'm a PNW skater, so everything is rough as hell, but even in our glass-smooth new skateparks (which I rarely skate), I don't find them to hold me back at all.

I’m sure it’s me my sessions are fewer and further between than I’d like.  I’m debating on tossing spits back on to see if it matters. But wanted to see if anyone else felt this way. I’ve been on them for maybe 2022? Pretty close to drop date.  that v5 shape just hits.

I was using 99 x formula V5s on my last setup which I rode for 7 months. I did find them a bit stickier than F4s on nose slides. It was enough to make me cautious initially but it was easily fixed with wax. I enjoyed skating them and would again. I'm back on F4 99s though as I make my way through what I've got on hand.
