Just got a new Terror of Planet X "Mausoleum" deck. It's my second Quincy deck and while I'm not crazy about the concave/shape it's mellow and neutral so it doesn't bother me, but I really like the pop. They almost feel lacquered or something, but they're stiff as hell and just bounce off the ground like a spring.
A quick lesson in why nostalgia is often misleading, I sought out and bought some Black Magic grip a while back and I decided to use it for this deck. It's very smooth like I remembered but I had forgotten just how thin it is. I took a spin to the store and stopped off in a parking lot to play around a little and just in the course of maybe 5 minutes and a dozen attempted tricks it's already chipping around the nose. The deck barely has a scratch on it but the grip looks like it's a month old already. I guess we sometimes forget that there's a reason these products fall out of favor in the first place.
I also got some Hard Luck 6 Ball bearings that are ok, but hopefully they speed up. I ordered what I thought were regular sized hard luck 92a medium bushings but they're fucking tall longboard style bushings so I'm going to have to either cut them or just throw them away. It would have been nice if they'd specified that in the ad.
