It’s kind of an ugly graphic IMO but new Cash Only deck to support the hometown hero, Aleka

[close]

Thinking of getting the Philly deck of the same series

It’s a decent board fwiw. Kind of your run of the mill generator deck if you were curious. I have no complaints

Magenta team plant 8.5. 14.375" WB. I was on holiday this week and spotted this on sale in the local. Went for it as it was a decent price for Generator wood and I wanted to get over my hesitation actually setting up a new deck.

Nice!!!

Not to put you off, but how steep is the concave on that board?

I had seen a few and some were so steep and it almost felt like the wheelbase was a little too long for the deck concave and mold, but I know I am not the best judge of those sort of things, with some of the boards I have.

There were a number of sizes of the Magenta Big Plant decks and all the others seemed like they worked fine, both smaller and larger, so I think I just got a couple of weird ones in the 8.5 size.

Great wood, good price (decks also on sale here) and I didn't even have to take much of a graphic off either.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Fair question! Coming from 9/9.25 and bigger I find it actually feels weirder if it's too mellow, which might change over time. I was mostly thinking about how I'd worked myself into a mini gear madness over which of the decks I'd narrowed it down to in my own local (turns out they're exactly the same dims/spec etc). Grabbing this totally unexpected find was a good way of breaking that spiral.

Magenta did this in an 8.4 and an 8.5 which I think is pretty cool. This 8.5 has a slightly longer WB which I may prefer at a smidge under 6ft tall and US13 shoes. I did some Definitely Scientific Testing™️ with a ruler: the tip of my finger below the ruler to show the depth is 0.375".

Got a pair of the Independent/Remind insoles and they are pretty nice. Much better than the older versions, different material that feels more like memory foam or something similar.

Yes that looks like the same concave as the ones I have.

The weird thing is it is about twice what some of my other boards are for the same width.

Hope it is a step in the right direction for you coming from bigger boards.

Thanks dude, me too! I've had a quick push round and it doesn't feel too small instinctively so that's a good start! Will be happy dialling in from here I think

Just picked up a fresh deck and new set of wheels. REAL Keith Hufnagel Cathedral White Dipped Deck, 8.5" x 32.18" with a 14.38" wheelbase. Spitfire Bigheads in 54mm 99a duro. This was for my birthday coming up, for Christmas I've got my eye on a Krooked 9.81" Ronnie Sandoval deck and 56mm Classics

Happy early birthday! What do you like about that shape? I tried it except with the Krooked DBX version, and wasn't a fan because of the nose.

However, I recently got a Tom K. Shovel Nose in 8.6 and love it. Also, I can't wait for the 93 Radial Fulls in 58mm to show up early next week.

regular pepper doesnt have these issues

educated guess is that xg was made for board breakers
or at least people setting up a new deck frequently
i forget max palmers involvement
but he was/is the first pro to promote it
a ton of instant grip that would last long enough
if you are running a board company
and skating primarily blazers
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I got some G3s (never tried Bronson, wanted to step up from Reds), some pivot cups for my Indies (they're dry rotted), 1/8" risers, and finally bit the bullet and got some F4 classics in 54mm.
that would be crazy if your skin was made of hammers.

Couldn’t decide if I wanted 54s or 52s so I went 53

That’s kind of sick that you can just buy hangers or baseplates from mesa. I wish more brands offered that solution

Right? Honestly, I might have gone another route if the rest offered options like this. So many combinations I could go with. But I just tried this out on some curbs and I’m really liking the combo of AF1 hollow hangers on solid kingpin but I’d probably like all hollow as much or more.

As far as I can tell it's just the AF1s though which kinda sucks if you prefer the classics

I wasn’t paying attention since I don’t have classics and even lost interest for a bit because they didn’t offer hollow AF1s until recently. If you want them, maybe reach out to them and ask if they can make them available if there is demand for them. They seem pretty responsive and open to make stuff their customers want.

I have that same board currently, and it’s actually neither.. it’s a new(?) shape.

Most sites have it listed as the regular palace 8.25 but one site I found had it listed as 8.25 x 32, 14.25 WB, 7.02 nose, 6.54 tail.

That feels pretty accurate to the one I’m skating. My WB is for sure 14.25.

Interesting, TY! Yeah don't think they had a 8.25 w the 14.25 WB before? Funny they still messed up the measurements on their site for it like they've done before with their 8.25s lol.
