I set my first girl deck - 8 inch Breezy G045 shape and the tail is super steep for my liking. I have tried a friend's chocolate deck before, i think it was the G027 and it also had this steep tail. Are all crail shapes with tails like these? I
I put thunders 147 first and it was kind of ok. When i use tha nose as a tail i had perfect pop, but otherwise it is just not comfortable for my ankle. I had an ankle injury recently and this may contribute to the unpleasant feeling, so I decided to go lower with one old pair of royal lows so i could pop easier with the tail.  I hope when i am fully recovered and when the tail eventually mellows a bit i could enjoy the deck with the thunders, or i will ride it with the nose as a tail.

I can only speak to the G069 and I wouldn't call it steep at all.  I think it almost the perfect shape/concave for me.

Idk

I'm riding the Breanna shape, G045 right now after 4 or 5 G08's. It's a slightly shorter wheelbase w/ mellow OG concave. Works well w my short legs.
About to drop in on the 2 for $80 and try and grab another couple

I skate the G027 almost exclusively along with occasional G069, I wouldn't call the G027 tail steep at all, quite the opposite.

The G069 pretty much feels like two G027 sawn in half and the tail ends glued back together.

I measured the tail at 21 degrees with the angle meter app, which should be medium (right?), but somehow it felt uncomfortable on the first sess. The nose is 20 degrees and i prefer it for the flip tricks. I guess i am a mellow tail guy :)
Now when i put low trucks and 50 mm wheels the setup felt right for me.
So other than my tail complaint, the deck is top, i like the mellow concave a lot and the wood is good.

That's good to hear, I love em, wouldn'tk skate much else these days.

I love mellow and flat decks and they do flatten out nicely without going soggy, I can usually get 2 months of flatground out of one before I swap out.

Just measured the tail on my broken in G027 and it's 20 degrees.

G027 vs G052. What’s all the differences? Steepness? Tapered the same way? Kicks not that round on g052?

Why the do so much more G052‘s? Latest drop has no G027 I think

Go27 shape is magical. I just gave a lightly skated one to a kid who just started and I was hyped to pass it along to him.

I could be tripping but I didn’t feel like the G027 I’ve had tapered like the G052, even though I’ve heard it’s based on the G027... also feels way shorter to me on account of the shorter nose probably. An interesting thing about the G027 is that the tail is actually a hair longer than the nose but really it feels almost like a symmetrical shape. None of these things sound super appealing but for some reason the G027 boards I’ve had I’ve really enjoyed, just something about it felt super fun and maneuverable

The reason i like the G027 is because the tail is 6.8 " and the nose is 6.7" which makes it feel super close to symmetrical and not backwards when doing any shove it variations. As someone with a size 12 shoe, my only complaint is i wish Crail tap would use the same dimensions but up the width to 8.5-8.75.

Go27 and go52 have the same tail . Both boards taper at the back down to 8 from 8.25.

8.75 big boy Jr was one of the best shapes ever! Used to have same 3 fingera of flat longer tail. I wish they will make it again.
I am asking crail all the time to make then again.

Skated the G027 the first time today and it’s really good. Excited how long it will last.

Have any of you guys ridden the G050 shape with 144 Indys? ~6.5 tail with a 14.44 wheelbase. And does that also taper to 8" toward the tail, because that's what I didn't like about the other 8.25 shapes.

Not sure if a 14.44 wheelbase makes sense for me on Indys.

I’ve skate the G053, which has some similarities.
I don’t really mess with indys much.
The G053 is fantastic.

I'm pretty sure the G028 is not being made anymore. Does anyone know what current decks that one would be similar to? It was the only deck I could manual on. It was like a cheat code.

Did you try other trucks on them too?

I have a Malto, where the wild things are, on this shape. Pretty sure it was warped, brand new. The tail is so sick tho. Very pinner.
I skated a lot of 7.5s….but 7.6s and 7.75s and so on were always better for me

I have a G052 on the way. Haven’t had a Chocolate deck in years. Does the new wood stay pretty stiff for a good while? My DLX boards have been going soggy pretty fast lately.

Definitely.  It stays snappy for a while.  I was having the same issues with the most recent DLX boards I had a while back.

Yes, loveseat on ace 55 low with REAL wood risers on 52mm wheels is my new love affair. I’ve been a transition skater primarily my whole life. So wide boards and long WB has been my ride for the past 24 years but for some reason as I’ve gotten older and I’ve found a new passion for low impact box skating, curbs and flat ground.
Loveseat will be on rotation in my quiver for the foreseeable future.
