People who make lame tricks cool
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:42:46 PM »
I was thinking about this recently as varial flips became so popular again over the past year...It's interesting when certain people are able to make a "lame" trick look cool by doing it really well/with a unique style. For example, I think nollie hardflips are a weird trick but they're cool when Cairo Foster does them. Are there many other notable examples of this phenomenon?

Any trick looks good when done correctly. And you fools are slippin. Penny had the best nollie hard flip. I don't know who it was, but some poster has the gif.

People who can make pop shove its look good are pretty awesome. When you see some dude with really tight trucks do an ugly pop shove it, it can ruin your week and traumatize your soul.

Did anyone see that clip of him doing a double kickflip backside nose blunt slide? It looked great.

i use to hate seeing feebles on ledges, but if you can do a front feeble on a ledge and keep your front wheels from touching the ledge that's the coolest looking trick. Carroll has a great one obviously, also his fakie hurricanes on ledges (I just call em Carroll grinds) are really stupid if done incorrectly, and amazing if done properly.

Mike Carroll said MJ can make the weirdest trick look good. I guess it's true. He did a pop-shove late flip in his Fully Flared part and it wasn't spasmodic.

Yup that's the one.  I was even thinking that before you even mentioned Penny.  Hands down the best nollie hardflip I have ever seen.

I always thought inward heels were super awkward, but only regular or switch ones.  Nollie and fakie inward heels look a lot better to me.  P-rod does a nice switch one at the end of his Forecast part.

The varial flip Nate Jones does at the end of a line in Real to Reel is a thing of beauty.

My experience was that big spins came through with Yeah Right! Koston and Carroll.
Varial flips, BA had a voice.

Ss fs biggies. It's like this bang for the buck kind of trick. It's like the mayonaise.. No it's like. I don't know, but difficulty wise, to me, it count's as much as an ollie. An ollie can sure be cool looking, but ss biggies a just so mundane. It's like it doesn't matter. And, if somebody ends their part with a ss biggie, everything is just reset. It's like, congratulations, you didn't have a part.
And lazer flips. Maybe it was cool in THPS.. I don't know, but in real life it sure is not, and making it nollie doubles the amount of aaaurgh aaaurgh awmygad awmyaaaurgh aaaaarugh

Kerry Getz had the only tolerable double kickflip for years and years.
