I went to the Franky Fest today and wow it was a great time, NB seems to just do things right. I won a pair of Franky 417's and confirm they are TTS and are great for people with a slightly wider foot. I've skated 6 pairs of 1010's in a row but am really excited to skate the Franky's. They feel great on feet and have a broken in feel to them after 10 mins of walking around. I can also confirm that they pass the ankle roll test (look at my username lol) meaning the sole of the heel is wider than usual which provides more stability, which in turn makes it hard to tip your foot inward to roll your ankle. Very rare to find shoes like this, so fair NB has the most models on the market that pass. (Nike and Cons seems like they build their shoes as narrow as possible)

All in all today made me love NB even more

My opinion is that the more structured, stable, and wide the heel of a shoe is, the less likely you are to ankle roll, but when you do roll the ankle, the suffering is legendary.

417 sounds like a great shoe for me then. Those white 440 lows look awesome.

So what’s up with the vegan 440 release date?
Looks like our Vegan 440 should start hitting shops in early July sometime.  The vegan 272 vulc will be a little after in Aug, both are Fall shoes but the vulc stuff too longer this season to produce.

Someone said it in another thread “1010’s make dunks feel like last resorts” and it’s 100% the truth .

Having owned all three of the shoes in that joke, I can't say I agree.

Better quality suede/leather on dunks and last resorts imo.

At the very least, it's thicker.

NBs seem to fit the best in the heel though. I'm considering going back to low tops and heel lock is a major concern for me. Of all the skate shoes I've had, NB does that the best. And I've heard multiple other people mention that as well.

NBs feel snug/fitted without feeling tight. At least the 440s I had did.

I had a few pairs of 1010s, and they felt great aside from the toebox being too short (heightwise) and it was rubbing the tops of my toes too much. I sold two pairs and kept the OG color way.

Might still try to skate those eventually.

Thicker is not always better. I grew up on a ranch and when you had custom tack made often times thicker meant lower quality/cheaper and it would end up wearing worse as it was stiffer so it would develop worse wear lines and never quite mold to form. Some of the Youtube cobblers have straight up roasted Nike's suede and leather quality. I have had a different experience. My beef and broccoli 1010's lasted 3 months and never tore a hole in the suede. The rubber was extremely worn and the stitching never came undone. On my leather pair the leather lasted longer than the 2 pairs of SB Dunks I've had recently. Blazers have some of the worst suede for the cost. I don't usually wear holes in shoes and I'd wear a hole in every single pair of them. NB as a company uses pretty high quality materials that are known to be supple and durable.

But that said if they don't fit ya for skating then it's all moot.

I've been skating Nike's for years. Mostly Blazers. Within 2 weeks I will 100% have a ollie hole thru them. I've never gotten all the way thru with NB shoes. My biggest issue with NB is that I my feet are narrow/normal, and 417 and up seems to be rather wide. Not tested the 508.

I had some NB# 288, same sole as 508, and it was probably my favourite shoe ever.

It’s interesting to hear someone else echoing this sentiment, because what grabbed me about NB from the go was how much higher quality the materials used in the shoes are. The suede, the dye used to color the suede, etc. there is no one else doing what NB is doing right now as far quality is concerned.

I don't think so actually but let me check when I get back from Japan, but off the top of my head no.

Is it possible to shave the hairy suede on the Poets 1010 so it's not so long.

It’s ok I actually went to a shop that had NBs (I think the Hollywood Pharmacy shut down).  Frankys fit me a wee bit better across the toe knuckles than vans sk8 his and Rowan’s do, but there is still a lil tightness that makes me nervous as that never really seems to break in for me.   I did love how they hugged the back of my foot though.

The Tiagos looked really nice in person (both models).  Once the strike is over, I think I’ll dip a toe in the water and finally forgive NB# for the Arto 358 brick colorway not looking like the model from all the ads, etc (Jk I know it was unavoidable)

Just picked up a pair due to this post. Great description, nailed it. Coming from 212s the toe isn't narrow, probably not as wide as the 212's toe. The rest of the shoe fits great and is probably even wider than the 212, they feel super stable. Can't wait to skate mine, they're not heavy at all for a mid top, either.
Globes Opinion made me depressed for years.

So I've read several reviews and used the search function for the 272. Is it truly half size down? Also they don't have tongue straps? So does the tongue move around a lot? I have a pair of Rowleys right now and the lack of tongue straps has driven me nuts. I tried several different looping and ties to keep the tongue centered and had no luck. I'm ready to just toss them over a power line. Also is the 306 just a better overall option? Seems super similar and has tongue straps as well.

I’ve purchased 2 pairs of 272’s and they were TTS.
