i lead the league in being annoying, i’ve used the gear forum, flagrantly, as some type of post mid life crisis therapy/trauma folder.
i really do it.
i think i’ve posted in the tall skaters threads (im 5’8”).
i go into the big boards threads, dont skate big boards.
i’ve got more trucks than og rob.
i make it all about me^^^

back to nb: any wide footers recommend a whole size up in the 808?
anyone recommend a shoe stretcher for width?
i’ve had one pair of 808s, and i rotate shoes, but these really really last. it’s rad. i just need some more width across the metatarsals.
the 808s are great for walking too.

Bunch of new 440v2s on NB’s site. Someone please talk me down. I own too many shoes, but this colorway is amazing. Brown and Black looks so good together:

https://www.newbalance.com/pd/nb-numeric-440-high-v2/NM440HV2-47532.html

Damn those white and green ones are looking good. If I could justify buying a pair to put on ice I would grab those quick.

Could people stop quoting Ohio Guy I blocked his posts for a reason
[close]

Sorry, but I missed the beef with Ohio Guy; what's the problem?
[close]

yeah me too. i wanna know.

i was a big fan of the 1010s, skated a few pairs. went to dunks.
i’ve had one pair of 808s (wheats, so good). love the shoe. took a really long time to get wide enough, now they are perfect.
i’ve always worn nikes, for the narrow heel/general fit, but i’m a bit less concerned with that as i’ve gotten older, and my forefoot has spread out quite a bit. the toes get pinched in the 808s.
480s, 600s, or 808s? what’s next?

i really don’t care too much about board feel. i was skating in black af1s, absolutely looking like late night McD’s management. the point is, id rather my foot be supported, than feel my board. the last 10-15 years of skating has been really sporadic, and a lot to do with pain avoidance. from the knees down everything hurts. a lot.
[close]

McD's management  ;D--that's where my head goes when I see those, too.
I'm old and have sciatic/IT band/plantar fasciitis pain that I can keep at bay with good shoes or insoles along with regular glute/hip workouts and the 480s have been a godsend for me. I skate them with stock insoles and the support in the arch, etc. from the midsole has me skating 5 days/week again. It took me a session to get used to the boardfeel, or lack thereof, but now I love them. For context I'm a tranny skater and I don't flip into or out of shit and the 480 works for my grinds and limited lip tricks.
[close]

i’ll pm you about those workouts. i can’t buy my way out of this hurt.
sounds like the difference between you and i is that you can skate curved walls, and do some grinds and lip tricks. i’m envious.

sounds like the 480s, tts, are the move.
uprise posted some excellent pics a bit back of the white gum ones, man those folks do a great job. their product pics are the shit.
the other shoe i’ve been thinking about is the ave 2.0, hard to vote against nb, their materials and quality is real real decent.
[close]

Yeah, man, hit me up and I can send you some ideas. I was trying to buy off the pain but the simple exercises were the only real solution. Who'd have thought...
The white/gum suede 480s are sick and I'm thinking I'll get them and add some different laces; some serious color. With all the young'uns running all white tennis shoes I can't look like I'm trying to blend in  8)

The ave 2.0 intrigues me, too, but yeah, NB and their all-around quality is going to be hard to beat. But those lavenders...

those lavenders. exactly. heard they are maybe narrow. look amazing, the color is too nice.

Just my 2c, but I enjoy the input from everyone who regularly posts in this section of the boards. I find many of you extremely helpful.

I ignore his posts because I don't think his input adds value to the forum. Lots of people that don't share my taste in gear do add value, but given that he admits he just rolls around I don't find the input interesting. I've learned that the ignore feature is super useful for just streamlining reading as there are posters that don't add tons of value. I actually like reading everyone's perspectives, but since I am interested in the technical aspects of gear from those that skate the same shit that's what I wanna focus on reading

You're entitled to that opinion. But feeling the need to share it, and expecting others to bend over backwards so you don't see my posts is lame.

I'll try to post less.

it was more a joke, not gatekeeping anyone's ability to post. There is a thread in the Whatever sub in which ignore lists are discussed so it was a joke based on that, but a poor reference.

I've had that V2 high in wide in my cart for days...I really like the 440v2 low wide, but I want to try a 480 [low] as well but dislike all the current colorways that are readily available.

these just ain't it

the russet, white/gum, black/gum, lakers, and celtics are all good colorways. don't be a coward

It's about taste, not cowardice, these are just not in my wheelhouse. Atleast there's a market for them. And for the record, the blck gum and white gme aren't listed, just the questionable LOWs, as that's what my post was in regards to.

i like the shit talking for what it’s worth.
i hope you keep sharing your opinions, and using the ignore as you like, and @OhioGuy hopefully continues to share his experience as well, as he’s a rare entity for several reasons: started late, admits to just rolling around, etc etc.

Oh I will. And I should clarify--my sessions are probably 70% cruising, 30% tricks. I can ollie, but mostly do no-comply variations.

Even though I ain't skating as hard as most folks here, my gear (especially shoes) still matters. Before the 480s I couldn't skate for longer than an hour without feeling pain. So I'm greatful to NB#. They make great shoes.

they're fine colorways, not really questionable besides that hiking colorway. I would wear any of them easily.

Regarding 480s and boardfeel / lack thereof, I just might turn my 480s (which I tried on street and didn't get to work for my feet as compared to 440 and 600) into tranny-only shoes, full-on with duct taped laces and all.

They've been sitting on the shelf and I've considered trying to sell them but nah, they offer good protection, look good and I bet I can find some use to them this way. Probably just need to swap the insoles into some regular flatter NB Ortholites as the 480 insole somehow makes my arches hurt and the pain radiates up into all those muscles I can't name 'cause English is my second language and I suck at human anatomy.

Pulled the trigger on some NB# 600 and 306. Pray for me that these fit my weird duck feet. I am 80% sure that the 306 will fit but I am not sure if my heel would slip in these and if I would like to skate in them. But some vulc chill shoes would be nice too. 600, no idea. They just look awesome and I like the design.

The 600 is one of the best skate shoes ever made, period. And they fit many kinds of feet. So you should be good.

I had the Halloween ones and it was a nightmare trying to put them on my feet every time I wore them, even loosening and unlacing top two eyelets. Other wise was a really good shoe. Low looks good.

Yeah I have pretty wide feet and the 600s fit me well. They're snug but I'm pretty sure that's how they're designed to be, like the 1010s.

They just released a white/gum sole one but the sole isn’t fully gum.   I’d guess this is a sample of that
