I want to add my 1010 experience to the discussion. I’m on my 10th pair and it has been my favorite shoe and go to in the last couple years.
In my experience, heel-slip might occur and depends on the materials a little bit. But it always went away and was part of the break in process. To make this as smooth and painless as possible, I developed a little routine. I always wear them walking around for a couple days at first and while doing that, I lace them really tight and all the way up, making sure the heel is locked tight into the shoe. As soon as they contort with my foot a little bit better I start skating them and don’t use the top lace holes anymore.

Further things I noticed: there has been some kind of upgrade as it has been discussed here before.
The “Updated ones” feel a little bit tighter around the forefoot. In most cases, the heel cushions are a little bit more puffy and the most noticeable hint to the upgrade are the lace loops second from the top. The old ones had a metal ring that broke the laces pretty quick and the “Updated ones”  feature a rubber lace loop where the laces are protected a little bit better.
I think it’s really cool they updated the shoe and made it a little bit better in my opinion. Nice attention to detail.

To summarize: Stiffer materials, especially leather and a non-mesh toe cap might cause a little more heel-slip and may require a longer break in period. Also, the old ones had this a little bit more. The brown suede ones (called the broccoli and beef colorway) definitely are the pre-upgrade. They had a second round of those after the upgraded ones came out, but the brown ones still were the old construction with the old lace loops. Also, you might want to check how puffy those heel cushions are filled. I’ve had a couple models where there seemed to be less filler material inside.

Did you notice the tongue got puffier? I have a launch pair and that all black / purple pair that came out like a year ago and the black pair feels puffier, which I like.

3rd session in the NB# 600 yesterday, these shoes are awesome so far. I think I should have worn them in a few weeks before I skated them but I skated them right out of the box. What I don't like is the stock insole. I took the insole from the NB# 306 and trimmed the toe area, now they fit into the # 600 really well and I like that feeling. Is there a possibility to get that Absorb insole from the Foy #306 separately @rothdigga ? I would pay like 20 bucks just to get that insole.

The 808 Roland are available in SkateDeluxe for EU pals.
Limited sizes tho.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Are we getting any other V2?
I feel that 600 could really be so much better with some minor tweaks such as a little puffier tongue, tongue straps and a little thicker insole (maybe an Abzorb one).

By the way, when is the new seasonal drop for New Balance? I feel like it should be in a few weeks.

You read my mind on all of these. I don't care about the insole as I replace it but one weird thing I noticed is that the tongue centering strap is basically in between 2 of the lacing crosses and doesn't really do anything. Move that up and it would be great. Its the one NB shoe that I get annoying tongue movement on to the side.

Just wondering what the 480 highs fit like and if they're comparable to 440 V1s? I'm not able to try on the 480s, as buying online, but have a couple of pairs of high and low 440 V1s which fit perfectly in US 11.5 and was hoping the 480s are comparable fit.
[close]
I was a 440 Hi person for the last 4 years and switched to the 480 high.  They do take a quick second to break in but they're pretty nice once you get used to the thicker sole.  For me at 52, I kind of like the stiffer and thicker sole.
[close]

No love for the 600? I'm not on the internet much but don't see many pros using the 600. It seems almost all are 440, 480, some Tiagos tossed in.
[close]

600 looks and fits great with nice board feel, but I didn't find them to anything super special over other [technical] shoes in the line-up (or offered elsehwere).

Damn fine looking shoe tho.

1010, 808, 440, 480 seem to be the line-up...I never see people in Westgates, Foys or Villanis (I'm sure they keep selling or they woulnd't keep making'em).
[close]

You and I on that same shit. I could live the rest of my skate life with only those 4 models as an option. I’ve heard the franky’s have some unfortunate design flaws, and looking at the stitch locations in the Ollie area of the upper, I can imagine a lot of bagging out on the sides. I own a few pairs, but haven’t skated them yet. They also don’t exactly fit me tts.

600 felt similar to the 440 to me fwiw.
[close]

Yeah, 600 or 440(v2) could swing either way tbh, both great shoes but there isn't anything HOLYSHITWOW about them (like say the 1010 or 808); the 2E/wide/synthetic 440v2, should become a mainstay. Checks a lot of boxes.

A slightly beefier 600 or 25% scaled back 1010 would be my sweetspot.

440V2 is easily best in class. 1010/808 are in a class by themselves.

Exactly what I would want/what the line-up is missing.

Anyone have pref when it comes to the suede vs synth pigskin as far as fit and feel (only ever skate the synth pig from launch but I'm eyeing those all black suedes).

I have the first white and green ones and a pair of the suede, the pig skin one has a pinch point on the inside of the shoe that bothered me the first day I wore them but it has since went away, I really like the 600s but some centering straps and a slightly beefier tongue would goat these shoes, the toe shape is what really does it for me, I’m still putzing around doing olllies and stuff but they broke in first day for me and I have had good sheshs on them since copping

Crossposting from the sale thread: Vu just put a bunch of NB# on sale, so if you were looking for some 440 V1s, there should be a decent selection available.

Anyone got eyes on the 440v2 high WIDEs? I've the low wides and the high non-wides and I can't bring myself to skate the hi-non wides (size 10.5, just worn inside a few times, HMU if interested). @rothdigga any chance we'll seen a synthetic high like the 440 wide (blk/olive)?

What size are you? I might have a 9.5 insole that I took out with a new pair when I put the remind insoles in my 306’s.

This thread is extremely boring.

It has been a hot minute since any new drops have hit shops, I'll give you that. Some cream 480s and the 427 low ain't setting the world on fire.

Now some new info on the Reynolds would liven the place up...some new knox colorways...that new 425 colorway is alright...if anyone is actually skating them...

Maybe you should talk the Pokémon Company into collaborating with New Balance. The streets need some Gengar 480s.

I think we figured it out. The less stable the company, the more exciting the thread will be. I am chomping at the bits trying to see if emerica really took away the g6 cupsole that was the single last reason I wanted one of their models.
