^Thanks for the insights!
I've never had issues with shoes being to narrow in the forefoot before the 808, which is why I asked specifically in this thread. While the fit doesn't work for me I've come to appreciate the stiff sole very much and would like to keep skating shoes that offer good protection in that regard. From what I've read on here the sole on the 1010 isn't as rigid, but still more protective than almost all other cupsoles currently available. If the forefoot area is even just a little wider than the 808s it might be a good middle ground for me. For reference: I'm currently skating the Rowan 2 and the fit is much better, but I'm not happy with the level of protection. (I'm also thankful for all other recommendations, NB# or otherwise.)
Can confirm that the 1010 is pretty comfortable upperwise. The sole is not as "hard" as the 808.
But it is still a pretty tight shoe in my opinion and i also get a little heel slip in them.
So much that sometimes my feet and achilles tendon felt "tired" after skating in them. I think the 808 and the 1010 feel the same in the forefoot, but i skated the 808 only several times before passing them on so someone else can confirm that maybe.
The sizing on NB is horrible for me (same for Adidas, Cons etc.). US11 is a tad too small while 11.5 is too roomy lenghtwise.
Also skated the Rowan 2 all Winter cause that shoe somehow holds my foot in the perfect position for my achilles tendon to not flare up. Shoe was great but i also wasn't happy with the level of comfort and protection.
Stepped away from Vans after the AVE2 sock bullshit.
As someone mentioned here already the perfect shoe (from NB) would be something a little beefier than the 600 (or a bit less beefy 1010/ 808) in my opinion.
Would skate the 600 exclusively if NB would make better insoles.
At least more padding in the heel...
