I RECENTLY TRIED NB# 440 V2 HI AND I LOVE IT

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

MY DREAM SHOE IS A 440 (or possibly even slimmer shoe) WITH A 1010 SOLE (flexible with gel/foam/cushioning from heel to toe)

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING AND/OR HAS IT ALREADY HAPPENED AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT SHOE TO BUY?

INFORMATION APPRECIATED

❤️❤️❤️
[close]

I still have dreams of seeing a 306 upper on a cupsole, like either the 480 or even the 1010 sole. I don’t design shoes, but it seems like it would be rad. In the meantime, there’s no shortage of nb#’s that I absolutely love though.

Really hyped on the Reynolds (just like the rest of the world).

The 306 upper on the 440v2 sole would be the only shoe I would skate for the rest of my life. The 306 looks so good but I’m old with bad knees so I can’t skate in vulcs.

It’s not a v2, so it seems like both will stay in the line, so it’s a non issue for those who like the original

@rothdigga will there be any 440v2 colorways that have a leather toe cap?

To whom it may concern. I had the 868 years ago and hated it, passed it on after 3 sessions. It looked great but something was way off with my ollies which I never experienced before.

I have the 868 on as chillers and even though they're fully broken in I can't bring myself to skating them, despite telling myself repeatedly I should. They're just too comfy, and the lookdown factor is unbeatable.

Guess I'll start skating through my 7 pairs of 1010s.

Damn sad they changing the 808… the lace protectors were such a great design for a skate shoe that fit so well on that shoe specifically I know it wouldn’t work on many but it looked good. Hopefully they continue on with that rubber toe cap they used on certain colorways also.

Any release date for the Reynolds mentioned?

For me it was the other way around. The 868 took a long break in period but then I loved them, love the 1010 as chillers but skating felt a little off for me. I guess every foot is different and both models hold up to a super a high standard.

Bummed that the new 808 is an entirely different shoe and not just an improvement like the 440v2 was. I'll get over it.

I think NB has a special thing going right now and the more you add alternative versions, slimed down versions of existing shoes, etc. then the feng shui of it all gets thrown off course.

I don't think they plan on any in the future besides the trail versions.  To be honest, our leather toe caps don't really tend to sell very well at retail.  I like them but customers will shy away from leather at the front thinking it's too slippery I think.  We've seen it with 306's and a few others so it makes sense to just roll with suede if that's what people are looking for.

I'm honestly fine with the 808L being a thing. I think of it less as a "alternative version" and more of an update. If the improvements work, then I'm totally on board. The original is pretty divisive, but to me it's a good thing for a brand to be willing to listen and utilize feedback to improve the end product.

I'm good with the original 808s but will probably get the lights as well to see how they feel. Still skating the same pair of ogs I got last spring. I usually bend the soles when they start to feel more flexible and if it still feels stiff, put them in the oven / microwave for a bit and they good to go. Then a few good sessions and they're perfect to me.

I missed them originally, everytime someone mentions them a pain is felt deep in my chest, they look like everything id need from a shoe, a slight running inspired look, cupsole, breathable, Jordan trahan rocked the ever living fuck out of them, if I could get my hands on some I’d be hyped, even if my Ollie’s suffered a bit

I have same shoe size as Tiago and heard on here that he skates same size in 1010 and 808 - when I tried the 808 it felt like a full size smaller than the 1010. He must have some Harry Houdini ability to form his foot to different shoes.

Would be sick if Aimu Yamazuki rode for NB#. Does NB# plan on tapping into the Asia market? Seems like NB is on top right now in the skate footwear world but is missing an asian skater to represent

I am not Tiago, but I wear the same size 7.5 in the 306, 440, 600 and 808. The 1010 and 480 didn't work for me. I would need something like a 7.25 for those.

I completely forgot about that shoe and I had the exact same experience with it. It was a perfect shoe on paper but felt terrible underfoot. The sole rubber was on the colorway I had felt like it was from knockoff factory.

From what I see here there is maybe one shop that carries NB, I also have one homie who wears them out of the other skate homie I have.

Adidas has a bigger foot print tbch.

But I do love me some NB

Hey Rothdigga! How much more flexible are the 808L in comparison to the regular ones? The 808 felt like a padded snow boot the first time I tried them on

Same. 1010 in size 9 is a little big for me but skateable and comfy. 808 in size 9 is too cramped. I'm right in between and have a narrow foot so it's got to be a food shape thing.

I think that was the main feedback from that shoe was that it was too tight AND especially it was too stiff with little flex.  So they made some changes to the sole unit to give it more flexibility (I'm not a designer so I can't get too technical) but those were the biggest changes.

Not trying to derail this thread but I just want to take a minute and appreciate the fact that we can talk and ask questions directly to someone working for the shoe company in the thread for that company. @Rothdigga you’re fuckin rad, man. I see you responding to everyone’s concerns and queries about the most random details and specs frequently and wanted to take a minute to show my appreciation. I’m not aware of many other brands that have someone so readily available and willing to respond to the public and honestly might start skating # more often because of it. Anyways, carry on. (And show us the Reynolds plz)
I completely agree! It’s something that doesn’t go unappreciated by me. It’s part of the reason I almost exclusively skate NB# these days! Same thing goes for @minigeek and now @BenKinetic who’s responded in here a few times as well.

Anyone in here going to Slow Impact in AZ?  If so, our shoe designer, Jeff Mikut is doing a panel presentation and discussion on the Reynolds 933 design process.  So if you're on the fence about going and are interested in that deep deep nerd shoe design stuff, it would be worth attending for that.

X3. You guys have me clearing out my other skate shoe brands to support the NB. I dig what you're doing on a larger scale, as well, with the donations to the local scene here in KY, specifically 100 pairs of shoes to the Louisville-area skaters in need.

Slow impact just posted on their ig and Reynolds himself will be in attendance. i am kicking myself that I won't be able to come this year (last year was a blast). But life happens.
