Anyone else have issues with the 440v2?

I absolutely loved the original 440, and the 600 fits me like a glove. The 480 and all the thicker shoes are not for me. I like my boardfeel in the plenty.

Hence I had high hopes for the 440v2.

I've skated a pair for two long sessions now. For some reason, I'm getting this weird numbing pain in the forefoot on my left foot (I'm regular) especially in the beginning of the session.  It goes away once I warm up, but this hasn't happened with any other shoe before. Plus my feet seem more tired after a sesh than with other shoes.

I can't put my finger on the reason, really. I mean, is there something drastically different in the forefoot of the 440v2 as compared to the previous version? Am I wearing my shoe too tight? Should I give it more time to break in?

Trying a different insole would probably do something, but I kinda want to feel comfy in my shoes stock, as I've been doing with the 440v1 and the 600. With them, I've never needed to tweak anything regarding insoles, except for swapping in an FP insole once the outsole has worn so thin that I start to feel it on my feet.

To summarize: the 440v1 and the 600 have felt great from the get-go. Not so much with the 440v2.

Any similar experiences or tips? Madness bound here.

I love the v2, but I must admit I didnt even try skating them with the stock insoles.

They still feel paper thin at times though
[close]

Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that I gotta go custom insole as well. What insoles do you use?

been using 5mm remind insoles, but the old model. Gonna probably order the new ones to see if theres a difference.

If you have no shame (like me) the big Z has them bogo 50% off ---> https://www.zumiez.com/brands/remind?srsltid=AfmBOooNBdExsUwjO2-O13OZSwCE-LynATownXFO9f92QmHxCc-p1-fA

Just a heads up though, after breaking in the 440 v2 still feels fairly thin even with the reminds in the forefoot. The heel and arch feel great though. Highly recommend only wearing them skating

whats so good about the 440s? i had the 306 and was pretty happy with them, but everyone seems super hype on these. both tiago models seem like they have cooled down a bit - i am not seeing that many pros wear them anymore, but still seeing decent amount wearing 306 (could be just the skaters im seeing) i am still seeing tons of 440s though the entire time and seeing them a lot in person too. they made a v2 which to me is a key indicator this is a really popular shoe.

It's a thin cupsole with a secure fit.

Very little break in time if any.

I'd argue most people could skate a pair and make do even if it wasn't their generally preferred style of shoe.

this right here. Very little break in time, and Im a sucker for slim silhouettes. Great boardfeel, but again when theyre super broken in they feel just slightly too thin

440s are great out of the box. However after two weeks (for me) they become all floppy and feel very thin.

So far I'm getting the brown 933, pretty great bday present. Too bad that with the delays I won't be able to use them to film my yearly crappy 1 trick per year clip.

i am with you on that. the shoes grew on me since the first pics (with that weird watermark, probably AI). seeing the side profile and the pics from reynolds interview, you can see that the proprtions of the sole between heel and toe are pretty nice looking- at least to me. kinda cool it has that NB runner upper and is different. i just hope they fit my feet. i like the brown ones but the dark blues are super good too. i think it is due to the suede that looks super quality

i feel like that might be coming from simplifying the design- taking out the lace loops towards the toe. i think that was a nice touch and would have been fine if they just kept the 808 as it was desingwise but changing the foam in the sole/ shortening break in period

That would've been just enough imo.  Also not fan of the wider laces here but those are easy to change to what you like.

I'm liking the grey 933 and the brown, but $145 retail with CA sales tax means $155.50 if you buy local and my locals didn't want to carry these because of cost. With shipping you might be out $165.

Quality wise they felt the same as the OG. Didn't want to try them since I didn't mean to buy them and asking for my size seemed like a dick thing to do.

The 808L don't have as thick of a tongue, and don't seem to have the tongue centering bands anymore.

It sounds like the 808l is more like NB cheapening his other pro model more so than it is improving it.

I just noticed the N logo on the side of the 480 foy is double stitched compared to the regular 480’s. I’m high as shit now so these things happen.

808L looks super budget compared to the grey day pair I have on ice for the summer. What’s the price point on them going forward?

$10 cheaper than v1

Damn idk that’s a hard sell on them, but I’m just going off these images and not actual in hand either. It’s just jarring to see so many changes on such a unique shoe I guess.

Who’d be confused?   There’s the NB# logo on the runner’s toe  and on the heel on the 933 anyways.

eh

could see someone htinking of them as "non skate" versions or something

The padding around the ankles seems to be the same, right? Does the 1010 or the 808 have a thicker padded ankle area? That's one thing I didn't like about the 1010, but they also don't fit quite right for me. I am looking for a bit more padding as the 600 but less than the 1010.

A more streamlined 808 makes sense. I always thought it was weird how the regular 808's seemed techier and more feature heavy than the 1010 despite the numbering. Granted this is based off looks and general feel when trying the 808's on and not the actual tech of the shoe.
