Its intentional. And it looks good.
One is rubber, the other is foam.
Off white always looks beter than pure white.

Agreed.  Just saw them and the combo looks good

Finally today is the day for us here in the EU. I was able to find the 933 already sold out (is not even 7am) in some Spanish shops. Found them in the UK but I don't want to deal with customs and all that stuff.
Any hints where to get them? (Hopefully a local shop)
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Finally got them. Wanted SkateDeluxe but when they uploaded the shoe it was sold out instantly. No way that could happen. They'll release the black/olive in like 3H but I'm pretty sure it will happen the same.
Arrow And Beast had a countdown that went to 0 @ 10am but the shoes weren't available.
Ended up buying them at Pivot in Cologne.

I was going to send you a link to another shop. Stay On Shop in Germany. But I am glad you were able to get them. I got the black olive from that shop. Last in my size. Are there only a limited numbers of the 933's available?

Caved and treated myself to the Reynolds 933.

Seeing and holding this shoe after it arrived in the mail, actually made me feel stupid for even contemplating buying anything other than this shoe.  The quality, comfort and fit of these is insanely good! Quality of materials is next level. Kudos for making such a good shoe.

How do they fit? 440s are too tight for me in the mid foot and the wides aren’t available in UK.

I love the new 933 and all the attention it’s getting and it made me wonder if now is the right time to unofficially start the petition to bring back the 868. I still have my grey/light blues on ice, such a great looking shoe imo. Roth is there any chance in future for a revival? Sorry if this has already been asked!

I've been keeping an eye on the European New Balance website, looking to order the grey days 933 as soon as it drops. It started out with a counter releasing in the 22nd, then it was pushed to the 26th. And now the grey version has gone missing from the European websites all together. Anyone with an inside scoop, maybe one of you awesome NB peeps knows?

Check with skateshops, not NB websites. Arrow and beast will have the grey ones but there is no specification when in their site.

Got my 933s through today. Look great but they’re a lil tight. I really wish they did the wide version here in the UK. They fit perfect if I remove the insole, is this something anyone would let has tried or just a stupid thing to do?

Loving my 933's so far. Fit like a glove in 10.5. Haven't skated them yet (probably won't) but I walked about five miles in them the other day and my feet felt great afterwards

I can help here. I have 990 v6s, maybe the most comfortable shoe they make? 933 is not on that level but I would say it’s very comfortable. There’s just so much more foam under the 990s the softness can’t be matched. Materials wise it’s really close. Probably honestly the same material quality for all I know. Biggest difference is the 990s are made in USA. The 933 definitely deserves the 900 moniker.

So, waiting a little longer to fully evaluate, but I have the 933 in black/olive, in both regular and wide. The wide feels very marginally wider, and I honestly struggled to decide if they felt better. I was able to compare the feeling of the wides new out of the box directly to a pair of regulars in the same size right out of the box, and even with both shoes new, it was a struggle to determine if one was truly “better” than the other.

I found the regulars to feel a bit tight, but after wearing them for a few weeks pretty much constantly, they have loosened up a bit in a good way. The wides I just got, and today is my first full day wearing them.

So far so good, but I want to spend a few more days before I fully evaluate the pros/cons. Right now my plan is the regular width to skate in, and the wides as chillers/ every day wear. I’ll report back soon.

Anyone have any insight on the for of the mesh top panel (camel or the upcoming grey day) vs the leather top panel of the black/olive? I know the 1010s have felt slightly different size wise to me dependent on the material of that panel above your toes. The mesh feel slightly roomier than the leather or suede. The suede would loosen up nicely though.

Just trying to figure out if reg or wide is the move when the grey day release happens, as I’m apparently right on that edge between the two. Currently leaning towards regs if the mesh feels like there is more room. I was originally caught off guard by the toe box not being very tall.

Yeah depends on which 990 version you're talking about, but for a skate shoe the 933 is definitely one of the most comfy ones out there but is not gonna feel the same comfort wise compared to a premium lifestyle runner shoe like the 990s. Agree the v6 has to be the most foamy/squishy of the series, but super comfy!

IMO I would say it's closest to a 990v5 with a good mix of support and foam comfort in the midsole construction, with very similar upper construction/material DNA of a 993.

Cheers dude. I actually went to the New Balance store in London when I was there the other week. They measured me at size ten but with a large E (verging on F) width. I had a pair of 440s in a 10.5 and they feel like a much tighter fit than 933 in the same size. I ordered a pair of 933 in UK11 as well as the 10.5  just in case and although the width feels better, the heel slip is not acceptable unfortunately.

I am a perfect ten in Last Resort VM001 highs, but I need more impact protection hence my interest in these. I am just struggling to find anything that actually fits atm.

I’m gonna wear them in the house for an hour or so tonight then see how I feel. I really want these to work out!

the issue is NB doesn't really have wide sizes, you get a half size up that's been relabeled.  This often ends up just resulting your foot and toes ending up being placed further back in the shoe more towards the midfoot where it's narrower than in the toebox. So you might not actually get ANY benefit of the very minimal extra width that there is in a half size up - you just end up with a lot of extra length in the front. It may even actually end up feeling narrower or the same as the regular size because of this

I have the black/olive pair and a pair of GDs at the moment and can confidently say that the mesh does feel roomier by a pretty noticeable amount. My black/olives felt tight right out of the box in the forefoot, but as I've skated them they've broken in hella comfortably. The GDs felt great right out of the box and have only gotten roomier as I've worn them. My feet are a D width, but if they were an E or on the cusp of needing a 2E I'd feel fine about getting the standard width. Hope this helps!

they need to rework what a wide is. i'm not convinced a 12 wide isn't just a relabeled 12.5 or 13
[close]
Lol that sounds hella dumb. Especially since they make wides in their other divisions and in the numeric line as well.
[close]
he's actually half right believe it or not. not mislabel but built on 1/2 size up sole.

Expand Quote
Can Mr Roth or someone explain how the shape of the wides work, are the soles different? More material?

Expand Quote
Expand Quote
Did anyone notice the latest white 480 on new balance is offered in a wide??? Curious if that is in the heel? Or forefoot.
[close]

Curious about this too.  I find the toebox to be good in the normal 480, but the midfoot is a little narrow.
[close]
[close]
So with wides, we generally use a 1/2 size larger sole to accommodate the 2E last size and then adjust patterns so that the wide version looks visually as close to the standard width as possible. The last, just to explain it, is the form/mold that the shoe is built around, looks like a blobby version of a foot. Just wanted to explain in case someone didn't know what I was referring to.
[close]

Can someone with access to both the standard and wide fit confirm if the sole is longer on the wide in the same size? Or alternatively if the standard in a certain size and the wide in half size down are equal in length. I tried these on at the local today and felt like I could use a wider fit, but wouldn't want it to be any longer. So if the wide 11.5 is essentially a streched out 12, I could see that working just fine. Other than the width, the shoe felt really good and seems like something I've been missing for years.
I'm still hoping the wides might become available in the EU at some point. I asked the NB webstore and they didn't know if they're getting the wide version in stock, which I find odd.

I'm hoping brands would have more variety in width between the actual models instead of doing a compromised pseudo wide version of a shoe that was designed to be medium width. This didn't seem to be a problem 20 years ago when there was no shortage of shoes that were wide enough. Then the thinned out vulc craze hit and the width was reduced to that of an Italian dress shoe, where it has remained since. I don't think people's feet changed over night to match this trend.

I just measured a wide and a regular size 12. Quick and dirty measurement toe to heel, wide was approximately 1/4” longer than the regular. I do believe they’re essentially a half size larger as previously mentioned.

Cheers, I did check with my local and unfortunately they couldn't say exactly when they're releasing, nor size availability. So thought I'd also order through the Danish NB website (as I do when my local doesn't have the model), to increase my chances. But they greys are still missing from EU sites it seems. Despite having the big Reynolds grey days splash image with the May 26th release date on the skateboarding section, which when clicked just takes one to the black/olive version with a release date on May 22nd ???
