Been skating a pair of 440 v1's I had on ice for ages, and man, I've been reminded how great a shoe they are. Or were. Kinda bummed to have to talk about them in the past tense. There's a certain effortless, instant out-of-the-box something in them the v2 doesn't have. I mean, the break-in time is nonexistent.

Each pair of 440 V2s I've had I could actually skate out of the box, but the V1s were definitely softer at every stage and conformed to my feet better. Especially toward the end of their life, they were absolute gold.

I’m on my 2nd pair of V2’s, each about a year apart. These might be my go to shoe. I’m going to try the Foy cup because I love the fit of the vulc but my old man feet can’t handle how thin they are. The 933 are great for chillers but I think my feet would get uncomfortably hot in the summer with them. The 508’s and 1010’s are too narrow for me. Haven’t tried the Tom Knox shoe yet, I don’t like the look of them. All that said, I never tried the 440 v1 but love the v2.

Those of you who have already seen or worn the new 306 Cup. Is it as wide at the toes as the regular 306? Those feel a bit too wide for me but otherwise a great shoe. And same size as the regular 306? I want to get the all black ones but I am not sure about the size.

Its wide in the toebox. It seems true to size

wider toe box for sure, maybe a tiny bit larger than tts.

The highs have been my go to for years now, both versions. Also just tried 480 high and like that too, it's wider all around and more supportive only complaint is ankle support isn't as secure as 440.

Interesting the 1010 being too narrow and the 440 isn't for you, wonder if you have a pair of wide fit for the 440? Because that's always fit narrower for me than the 1010, at least in the toe and forefoot.

I also dislike the look of the 600 and they didn't stand out when I tried on but a lot of people like them and say they skate well.

440 V1s were my reintroduction to cup soles. But I definitely think the V2s are an upgrade in support and profile. but still great board feel.

They made me believe I could skate other cup soles but now struggling to feel my board with iPaths.

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 306 cups. They’ll be here Monday. So stoked to check them out! It’s seriously the sickest shit ever to feel like a shoe company as massive as nb# listens to what skaters want to see. I know I’ve been talking about a cupsole version of the 306 for forever, so to know they really exist is so badass.

440 v2 are ugly.

They should just reissue the v1's and call it a day.

Very true.

Did they ever make a 600 in black suede and gum soles? If not, that would be very appealing.

It's weird that the 933 has gotten so many colors meanwhile the 440 gets 2 or 3 mid ones in the same time his shoe gets 6. I stopped skating the 600 partly because the colors consistently sucked. That and the tongue always flopped to the side and bothered me. Otherwise great shoes but as an adult I'm not gunna ride things I don't want to ride even if they're on sale.

There were a lot of white accents to it, so I could see them doing a blacker and gum version.

I've mentioned this before. It's down to one cw per quarter for the 440 high. The V1s had a dozen colors, maybe more, with multiple per quarter. I get the need to flaunt your flagship models and yeah the 933, 808 lites, and whatever else was new in 2025/24 were big deals but they really backburnered the 440 for it being such the proclaimed "team favorite."

I don’t think highs sell that well at the moment.   It’s why there aren’t many dunk highs either.

They added tongue straps to the 600, it helps a lot, I think the Q4 2025 releases are the first ones to have them, everything going forward since the krooked pair will have them.

As much as I hate this it’s definitely true, as someone who really started skating NB# when there were more 480 highs out than dunk highs, it’s been painful to see my only regularly available option is 440 v2s. Even those don’t seem to sell as much as 440 v2 lows but I’m grateful there’s at least one high consistently released even if they’re really thin 😂

This is correct.  Hi's seem to ebb and flow in volume over the years.  I've been repping or sales managing footwear now for 20+ years and sometimes hi's just smash it, other years they're very slow.  We're just in one of those moments where hi-tops are slow so you gotta put your effort into where the volume is.  We're always going to keep them in the line to offer something, but doing multiple colors of a silhouette that demand is low on isn't a winning formula.

My $.02

1.Dunks are dead, high and low. I don't think most skaters buying footwear preferred the dunk high for skating. Also the 440 and dunks are apples and oranges.

2.Colorways matter.

My go to shoe is the 440 hi V1 or V2. But CW's matter, I wasn't a fan of the beef and broccoli with the black sole and same with the blue with black sole. And for that reason I skipped on those even though I prefer the model. I just prefer lighter colored shoes, I think I just got spoiled with the amount of white upper combos that dropped in the V1.

@rothdigga  - Has there been any discussion internally at NB# of doing like a castlerock with white sole CW or a "core" like NB does with the MiUSA thats just always available for any numeric models? I can walk into 10 stores in every mall right now and get some grey and white 574's or 990's. Just something timeless thats always available alongside seasonally available CW's. Figure it would be easy to manage that inventory and wouldn't necessarily need to swing for the fences when ordering with the suppliers. Could even buy the materials in bulk to spread over the whole year versus a season.

For those that need the dunk comparrison the white and black "ISO" that just keep dropping every season.

After skating a bunch of dunks for over 10 years and trying the 440, the 440 has a crazy arch support that does not feel comfortable to me at all. I was curious about the 306 cup though, has anyone given this new banner ad a shot?

That's odd, every pair of 440 high I get is flat no arch support, if there was, I wouldn't be able to wear it. Maybe the low is different?

I think your arch issue is more so that Nikes have negative foot support so NB can feel aggressive. I swap stick insoles with old bones insoles and it works pretty well.
