grip tape trends
« on: March 24, 2016, 03:48:37 PM »
this shit has gotten very wack (pink grip/see through grip/pizza topping grip). So I want to know what trends do you think are cool and what aren't? I thought that east coast thing was cool when dudes would cut a sliver of the grip away at the bottom side of the board...but I never understood why it was done.

Back in my day we had to staple sheets of sandpaper to the bottom of our feet in order to get a grip.

I have to buy sheets of plain black Mob in bulk because the local shop only ever has Charles Manson, weed leaves, unicorns, pizza, and Shake Junt grip. A 13 year old's grip tape wet dream.

I don't get all the current grip trends.  They just seem distracting.  I go straight black, sometimes with a line near the back bolts.

Shoes are hardly 3 times more expensive over here. Maybe he was poor at the time or maybe it's just cuz he's Gou. Either way skating without griptape, and doing the tricks he does, is no joke!

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

that Miyagi tape is amazing
I don't usually do anything to my grip. I do the occasional grip gap where the logo is, and I've wanted to write some things on my grip if I could, but I never have deco markers. Some people do some really cool shit with the see through grip
Shit could be worse

Do people still do the "G-Stripe?" (The off center tape job that left a half inch or so of one edge bare)

That was huge around 1999.

I've seen white grip on instagram, gross. Also a full sheet of clear grip. is naw.

I actually really wanted star wars grip but can't get down with paying 12$ for it, when regular grip is free.

I have a friend who always does this. I used to do it too but I also backed it off about half an inch from the end of my nose. I got an alien board off a dude a long time ago who did it. I really liked the board so I just stuck with it as a mental thing.

Lately I'm just leaving a gap in the middle of the board since Quasi usually has something interesting on the top ply.

And MOB because the grip stays grippy.

Usually if there's a top graphic I'll try and cut around that.

Currently rocking the grip over the bolts á la Danny Garcia. I like it.
