Label Kills dropped when I was in 7th grade and dammit, by far my favorite video at the time, and possibly to this day. Later on, I even mailed them a written letter asking if they had the video on a hard drive, and if they could release Label Kills on DVD (or send me an MP4/MOV copy) because my VHS was getting worn out. I drew classic Label flames all over the envelope and everything, like pre-teen girl would write to her dreamy crush.
I didn't expect a reply but surprisingly I came home from school one day to find an envelope addressed to me from Black Label. The envelope had my name written in some cool sloppy looking hand writing and they spelled my last name wrong, but that didn't matter to me. I opened it up and there was a note saying Label Kills would be on DVD soon! (lol) and to keep on rocking or shredding in the free world, something like that, along with some Label stickers. I was a juvenile skate nerd who got a letter written to me from the raddest company out there - just imagine how stoked I was! I actually framed the envelope, note, and stickers, and hung it on my wall in my bedroom. I still have this in a box at my parents' house and will probably dig it out next time I'm home to put on display at my own place, for adult me to enjoy.
Black Label always just felt 'right' and hearing the way Lucero talks, it makes sense. He seems like the type of dude I can associate with and be friends with, albeit from an entirely different generation.
On a side note, it's far from his 'prime' and kind of a dick-around part but I loved his Label Kills after credits bonus part. Can't say how many times I tried to copy stuff from this, like throwing my board at bushes to be like 1:13 haha:
Another side note: no one, thanks for being a driving force in some of these conversations. When you get certain people together there is a potential for magic but a catalyst is still necessary and I think you do a great job. Thumbs up, man.
