I lived in Baltimore for years. It’s a great city but like every city it’s got its problems. I have way more good memories than bad.

Hey guys. I had a blast visiting Baltimore. Thank you for the advice. I ran around in the hood too and found some of the real the wire scenes hahaha. Went to an Orioles game, which was really cool. Also saw the aquarium.

I stayed in the suburbs and that was a very American experience as well. They did not get many tourist there.

Orioles games are a lot of fun. I always sit way up between 3rd and home. Aquarium is dope too. I actually keep a family membership there and just go with friends and family to chill every few weeks.
that would be crazy if your skin was made of hammers.

Heading out for the day in a couple weeks. Anyone ever skate these brick hips? They look pretty chill but I know pictures can be deceiving. Any other recommendations would be appreciated as well. Thanks

I never went to that specific spot but my wife lived one block NE from there 15 years ago.

It’s a weird area. In a normal city that would be a crazy rich neighborhood. The houses on Eutaw are amazing and would be $5 million plus in Boston or NY. However, it being Baltimore, it’s oddly desolate and when people are out they pay too much attention to you and it feels like you are being sized up. Those blocks where the park is shot fireworks off all night, every night of the summer we were there.

I’m sure on the Baltimore scale it’s not “bad” at all and if you’re just popping in to skate and don’t look like a total mark you’ll be fine but I didn’t love the general vibe there. Hopefully a real Baltimorean can tell me my experience is outdated and set you straight.

I'll be that guy, it's not that bad at all lol You're like 4 blocks from Bolton Hill there, one of the wealthier neighborhoods in the city. Look on Zillow, there are some 500-600k houses on the street the spot is on. It's not Roland Park or whatever but you'll be fine. If you aren't comfortable in this neighborhood, skating street in Baltimore probably just isn't for you tbh.

As far as the condition of the actual spot, it's been a while but the banks are pretty fun depending on the condition of the bondo. There's a small gap between the bottom of the bank and the runup that you would have to ollie to get over, but it's usually bondo'd up pretty good in all the places you would need it to be so that's generally not a concern. You can see evidence of that in the photos in the link. They're not very steep but the bricks can be a bit rough in places. All in all a great spot imo, def worth checking out if you're gonna be in the area.

They look like they were designed by the same person who built the Con Ed banks.

On The Wire weren’t they finding bodies in the park near Druid Hill?

Cool yea thanks for the response. I was more or less talking about condition of the spot and you fully answered my question. Anything else you would recommend in that area. We’re coming from nj so we’re gonna try and hit ledgewood on the way in or the way home

If you haven't skated Baltimore before, it's definitely worth hitting up Lyric which is pretty close to there. You've probably seen it in tons of videos:

You wouldn't be too far from Social Security there as well, which is another iconic Baltimore spot.

I honestly appreciate being corrected because my experience there is (checks calendar) actually 18! years out of date. That said, it was fucking wild back then living in some incredible brownstone but the neighborhood feeling semi post apocalyptic.

I remember hearing that a bmxer went through that glass and got super cut up so they put in that to stop people skating and riding it. It was fun while it lasted.

Makes sense, I started skating there probably around the early 2000s and I'm 99% sure the rail was already there by that point. I do remember seeing videos of people skating the banks before the rail got put in though.

Yeah checks out, bound to happen at some point with a spot like that
