Stevie Williams Back On DC?
« on: January 30, 2018, 07:34:19 PM »
Just posted a pic of his old shoe saying he's meeting to discuss the past & future... Imagine Kalis, Wenning & Williams all back on DC.

He was in talks to get back on when he ended getting on Supra, Dc probably couldn't match the offer at that time, now he's probably a little less sought after and they can get him.

Would be a nice addition for re-issues if he isn't asking for a serious check. Stevie, Ave, Kalis and Wenning really defined the DC Video for me. Danny and some others really had some heavy shit, but skating ledges and the tech tricks on them, or just sheer speed they were attacked with defined that era of DC for me.

Are people buying this stuff for the nostalgia or the design?

The nostalgia. DC is going all in on what will no doubt be a short fad and then we'll get to learn all their riders' home addresses when they go bankrupt again.

Indeed.

I remember rocking Lynx/oversized pants and damn it felt good to be a gangster. But now into your 30s-40's like most of these dudes are, I dunno.

Looking now at these re-release DC models, these things are one step from LA Gears with lights on the bottom.

Either way, good for them- get money.

i feel like he’s going broke hence the weed maps and now this. Soho house is where you go to be seen as doing something not actually doing something. Dude should have never left chocolate and been a Skater now he can’t be related to and his skating is stuck in the 90s .

Every once in a while I'll see dads, or groups with wearing new balance mall walkers and their fresh bones re-issue board, trying to skate with their equally awful kid. I appreciate that their heart in the right place, but they are never coming back.

This is just the second generation of that idea.

I’m just never gonna tell my kid I skate and sneak off late night to hide my secret passion while my wife slowly begins to drink more because she thinks I’m having an affair.

I just want him to film a part in those shoes and his current pants.

Haha. Big shoes indeed require big pants

For some fucked reason that is one shoe I feel really nostalgiac about, despite the fact that I’ve never owned a pair of DC’s. I don’t know if it comes from a fondness for the Reason, but I’d definitely never wear them.

DC can only run this nostalgia thing so far, I am hoping they don't blow it once its over. They have a pretty solid team now and have been putting out good content. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I looked high and low for that goddamned shoe way back when. Never found it. If they release it in that colorway, I'll be buying it just to feel like I got my revenge on the pre-internet shopping era.

I get why companies have a skate team, motocross team, bmx team, surf team etc but why sponsor an ex-pro skateboarder that hasn't been seen skating at fucking all since 2012.
For someone w.no signature ur awfully hostile, & that is why I do this

It would be fucking sick if DC started sending boxes to dudes like Adam Sandler and Travis Barker and AJ Soprano who rocked the hell out of the brand at the beginning of the decade. I mean, if you're gonna cash in on nostalgia, go all the way, right?

When they get back to this point, I'm in. And by "in" I mean "still out".

Say what you want, but the original black ones with the red were sick. That toe cap lasted forever too, it was way better than the 400 NBS rubber toe caps that companies like Sole Tech were pushing at the time. The board feel wasn't nearly as compromised as everyone seems to claim either, it wasn't exactly a Vans Era but it wasn't nearly as awful as Huf's first shoe on DVS with that drop in midsole system. Anyone who hasn't had that first huf DVS can truly never know what a lack of board feel is...

Your foot was close enough to the board with that sole, half the people I see complaining about that shoe never actually skated it. It was better than Kalis's first shoe, that's for sure....

At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.
