I’m skating Thunder hollow light his. I threw in Independent standard cylindrical medium/92A bushings because I heard they were good and I don’t really like standard Thunder bushings.

So far the mediums have been working. Only minor things are that there’s a slight bit of muffin top going on, and I’m kind of thinking that conical bushings might be better.

The best bushings I've found for Thunders are the DLX made Thunder replacement bushings. IME everything else throws off the geometry too much or just feels weird. I weigh 175 and prefer my trucks on the tighter side of medium, so I usually opt for the 97a. IDK how anybody but children can skate the stock 90a bushings without getting massive wheelbite all the time, especially on forged plates.

As long as you didn't try to put bushings in where bearings go and bearings in where your bushings go, I think we are all doing ok.

Also, which bearings are you running? ;D

Whatever you do, do not buy Bronson ceramics. Literally the worst set of bearings I’ve ever had. Never had every bearing go to shit so fast.

Or for that matter stay away from any Bronson.

After months of riding Bones Big Balls, I went back to my old yotas, the SKFs. Either I've been unlucky and gotten bad Bones bearings, or they are just trash compared to SKF. To me, reds and big balls dont roll smooth at all. They feel jerky when doing manuals. The pair of Reds I got, were also gritty to roll between my fingers...
Bones Swiss 6s I do like tho.

Just got on some SKF and while they felt slow out of the box (probably packed with grease) they ended up feeling really good.

skf bearings are definitely the best in that price range. i’ve had a set for 2 years now and only 1 bearing blew out which i’m pretty sure was my fault, the rest work great still

The difference between bones Swiss and oski skf is like $5. Should I just get Swiss?

SKFs were only marginally less disappointing to me than Bronson offerings. Any Swiss is never a bad choice, Reds seem super hit or miss these days.

I’ve never ridden SKF but I doubt anything will be as good as Swiss. They’re just that good.

Quantum Isotopes on both my setups. I've cleaned both sets whenever one of the wheels slow down. Has anyone tried the Diamonds?

I’ve started using quantum isotope for a month after a few of my 6month old reds died.
Really happy about them, they seem really good and feel very smooth.

The only thing I noticed were 2 shields falling off. They looked pretty used in the back. I don’t know if I did anything wrong or if it happens ? I’ve put two new shields on as they include a full set of them which is super nice. They also sent me 2 extra so I should be good

What do y'all think the differences are between reds big balls and ceramic reds? I heard the six balls accelerate faster and the ceramics retain speed longer? Also heard ceramics when skating stairs and drops can actually dent the races cause the balls are mad hard? Also heard the ceramics were lighter weight by a lil bit. Never tried swiss ceramics but I have red ceramics on my rain board/cruiser and swiss six on my regular setup and I can't tell if the ceramics seem faster cause they're in cruiser wheels(sapphires, 80hd's) but I wanna build a super fast mini ramp setup with 101a f4s, and I wonder if I should pop some 6's or ceramics in there.. wondering how many pros actually fux w/ the 6's and ceramics or does everyone pretty much just ride black bones and pop shields... I don't pop shields anymore as of a few months ago, after 20+ years of shieldless.. the sound doesn't bother me the way I thought it would, I'm psyched. One less step.

I got some Bones Swiss to try but have been using the Quantum Atoms for a little over a year. Cleaned them once last year and they rolled better. Thought about cleaning them again recently as one started to spin a bit slower but after a session it was back to normal

My big balls were slow, even worse after cleaning (oddly) and re-lubed. Shields or no shields. I ditched them at a spot.

I mainly run Swiss Six, Bronson Cermaics (they were free) and Bronson Raws. With the skating I do, I cannot feel any speed difference between them. They sound different, that's about it. The Bronson ceramics (not that it means anything) have always had the edge in spin test/duration, even dirty vs dry swiss six. It's crazy.

Yes, 6 ball bearings will accelerate faster, do we go faster enough of the line or conisitenlty enough to notice? Doubtful.

$ix ball ceramic$ would obviously be the top teir, I say go for it =D

Switched to a setup with a pair of Reds, and they’re WAY faster than my Swiss Six. Think I fucked them up by taking the shields off too early. Won’t be doing that again. $60 down the drain.

Only had them for 6-7 months maybe. Cleaning them doesn’t help. One actually broke and I repaired it, don’t think they’ve been the same since.

Oh well. You live and you learn.
