fakie flip on a bank means coming back down regular. half-cab flip means coming back down fakie. he rolled up it and landed it fakie at a very wide angle but technically a half-cab flip but more like a quarter-cab flip if you wanna be a real dick about it.

So funny to see MM shutting down the naysayers in his comment thread about it on IG.

Fake flip. It only maters how your body spins in relation to the obstacle. If you did a 360 on a spinning playground thing it would be just a Ollie. Possibly even a negative spin depending witch way its spinning.

alley oop fakie flip

If he went up the bank straight and did that trick its a halfcab flip, it does not matter if he approached it from an angle, he is still doing a half cab flip.

A fakie flip would be, as stated above, going up fakie, doing a kickflip and going back down regular. There is no alley-oop fakie flip happening. He's not going over anything the opposite way (which is usually what happens for a trick to be called alley-oop).

Also, just look at the god damn trick, his head, his shoulders, he is doing a half cab flip. If anyone seriously thinks this is a fakie flip it makes me doubt you have ever landed a fakie flip

It’s a half cab flip. Imagine it on a quarter pipe without the flip, you roll up fakie, spin fakie backside and land fakie, that’s a half cab, a cab would be the same but spin more and land regular*. BUT, I’m also imagining rolling up to a qp frontside at an angle in nollie, popping, going with the flow, and landing regular, and I’d call that a fs nollie, like a fs air. It has the qualifications of a 180 degree trick, but does it fit the criteria in practice? Who knows? But I’d call what he did a half cab flip. Wallride (bank ride) fs fakie flip (not fakie fs flip)? I’m dizzy, it’s a half cab flip, it just is.

Oh shit, its a halflcab flip to fakie!

well here is Steve Caballero, the guy who invented the trick, doing a Half Cab.

this is exactly what austyn did, with 2 small differences:
1) He did it on a bank, but it doesn't matter if its done on transition or a bank. tricks are named the same.
2) Austyn went at an angle, instead of directly straight on, if you have ever skated a bank so steep you would know that hitting a bank like that, directly straight on ,rolling fakie, isn't really the way to do it.

the only way this would be a fakie flip is in a quarter pipe channel situation he is riding parallel enough you could argue he fakie flipped but its just a bank so its a halfcabflip

Definitely a halfCab flip. I could see an argument for fakie flip had the angle of approach/exit was more obtuse and he travelled further on the bank before/after the flip. It this is a halfCab flip.

So what is it called when you go up a bank fakie, do a fakie kickflip and then roll down it regular?

So what would you call it if he went up fakie and rolled out regular?

Halfcab flip: approach the obstacle fakie, roll up, do a 180 kick flip facing (!) the obstacle, land it, roll away fakie.

Fakie flip: approach the obstacle fakie, roll up, do a fakie kickflip, land it, roll away straight

There CLEARLY is a 180 (or close) degree rotation. So it's halfcab flip.

HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

Everyone saying it's a fakie flip:
You're flat-earthers.

i dont think anyone would if he actually did a full 180 to the right like a half cab flip and would come in straight call it a full cab flip? id call this trick a fakie flip to fakie. if he did a fakie flip to the left so he comes in straight id call it a bs half cab flip. this is a fakie flip to me. its the angle hes riding towards the bank. he doesnt spin 180 so its not a half cab flip. idiots. its all about the rotation not how someone has called it.
