My post was not meant to be a jab at any of these events by the way. I still love to watch the videos, especially the skating part and what they come up with. It´s just the party side of things that would probably annoy my old ass. Constant drinking, shouting... In my 20s I´m sure I would have loved all of it.

I feel like you're not giving yourself enough credit. Just don't drink too much and find a decent place to spectate. Maybe have a cup of coffee and find some other old heads to stand/sit next to.

I have never acknowledged or participated in a Go Skate Day since its inception, not really big on being told what to do...

I had a friend who was into bikes and always made it a point never to ride to work on "Bike To Work Day" and he was unsurprisingly one of those absolutely miserable SOBs who persistent negative attitude left him constantly heartbroken, jobless, broke, etc.

I was a cynical person for a lot of life. Never as bad as that although I did work in a bike shop and loathe specific types of clients. Being cynical did nothing but weigh me down. It's that scene from The Big Lebowski where they're arguing and the Dude says "You're not wrong Walter, you're just an asshole".

What a dick. Bike to work day is chill, always more flat repairs, but nothing like the first warm week of Spring when everyone brings the bike they didn't maintain all Winter in. Nothing compares to the dentists though. We had a customer order the most expensive bottom bracket available. I warned him that he likely wouldn't notice. He had me clean and re-grease it twice because it "didn't feel smoother or faster" and then tried to get me in trouble for not being a good enough mechanic to "fix it". What I ended up doing was noticing that it had the same ano and seal color as a cheaper BB so I took all the grease out of that one, put a light lube on, installed it on his bike, then took a video of the crank spinning for a long time. I removed it and put his BB back on and showed him the video when he picked it up. He came back a week later stoked on how much smoother and faster it was.

Well every spot/park is pretty crowded on go skate day. That is the main reason why i've never participated in one.

Lol yeah, anyone who can learn to properly slappy on a real 90 degree curb is a real one. Californian curbs are 100% easy mode

6” and 5* past vert with a crusty run up that dips down and curbs chunked out as well. It’s in California.
