People running 54mm or 56mm loophole v-cuts, do you have a width measurement you could share? Contemplating getting a pair.

I'll try to remember to measure when I get home from work today but they're a bit wider than a 54mm conical full. I actually have to run them without speed rings on some trucks because of how "thicc" they are.

Despite the size they don't feel overly heavy and despite being fairly hard they're quite smooth on rough pavement. They're also quite fast and since they're so big and stable I find that I'm more willing to just charge at shit.

If they end up seeming like they're going to be too big NFG also makes a 54mm square shape but they're pretty hard to find.

Sick, I meant to say that since I initially posted I went back to the library website and they had that same chart. 35mm overall width.

I don’t but you should get a pair anyway
[close]

Haha, way ahead of you. Ordered some from
Library, going to be here Monday. NGL I keep going to that picture of your northern board with aces and the 56s. Looks too good.

Edit: always been a 50-53mm person but going to try these with some mellow kicks and hope the ghost pop isn't too much.
[close]
sweet, I usually ride 54s, tried the 56 conical loopholes with my last board and hated the ghost pop BUT I just got a new polar with really mellow kick and nose AND it has wheel wells so I bought another pair of 56s. They’re a lot of fun to ride and besides it’s hard to get F4s at the moment anyway...

Edit: shit, thanks for checking out my pic of the northern co board, I thought no one was really digging it. I was out on it today actually with 52mm or so F4s on it, it looked better with the bigger wheels though!

Yeah, it was a great looking setup! I love south central boards and the 44s with the loopholes was total gear porn. Feeling like 44s with some big wheels will be a winning combo if I can get used to the pop.

No need, found them above but thanks. I know you're in PGH and you probably have similarly shitty streets to what we have here so that is encouraging.

Interesting they’re even beefier than 56mm conical fulls. Post em up when they arrive.

Need to see this northern co set up, GISM, couldn’t find when I searched

Will do. Also:

Northern Co. 8.38
ACE 44s w/ diamond 1/8 inch risers
Loophole 56mm
Bones Big Balls

Beaten up pair of eS swifts

Looks perfect IMO.

Ok

I wanted some wider wheels and felt like trying something new.

54mm OJ Elite Hardline shape 99a

It took about 20 minutes for them to break in but now they feel great.  Slide is nice, grip is good.  I really liked their Insane-a-thane formula as well.  These feel less plasticy and are 100% urethane

I'm skating 54 hardlines in 101a (on Indys to boot), I was surprised how grippy they were compared to the 99a Spit lockins I was riding (same session so same surface).

Also they arguably locked-in just as well as the spit lockins did.

If I could do it over again I would have gotten the 101s.  Looking forward to trying the 99s in slippery parks though

I think I need to swap my bearings as well (using Zealous with thick grease with built-in spacers) so the board kind has that plank-dull-thud to it so I can't really feel if there is any chatter to them.

I'm fan of the insane-a-thane and the hardline shape + Dressen + I rode the old school Street/Concrete Razors so bit of a nostalgia trip.

Yeah I recently got a set of 54mm OJ "from concentrate" and was really impressed with them. They might be the best price point wheel I've tried and I'm a big fan of the hard-line shape as well. I have some creature/oj bloodsuckers that are 56mm 97a hardline and they're one of my favorite fall wheels when there's a lot of acorns and leaves around. Great balance of grip and slide.

No need, found them above but thanks. I know you're in PGH and you probably have similarly shitty streets to what we have here so that is encouraging.

Well I measured them before I read your reply so I'm going to tell you whether you want me to or not. This is with a super cheap set of calipers I got on Amazon so it might not be the most precise -

Width - 33.7mm
Cp - 27.3mm

Anyone ever rode 58-60mm wheels on some Ace 44's with an 1/8" riser? I'm curious to try a whacky set-up like that.

I tried ACE 44s with 60mm Slimeballs and 1/8" risers and found that I got too much wheelbite. I'd recommend 1/4" risers.

Depends on deck width also. The wider the board the more leverage, the more chance of wheel bite. And, depending on the shape of the concave sometimes wheel bite is reduced a bit if the trucks line up with where the concave bends.

I always want to try and give my money to somebody smaller. I've tried Loophole, Dialtone, Jivaro, and SML recently. Liked Dialtone the best but they were still a little soft for me and wore out a bit quicker than I expected. On SML now and they're hugging the ground way too much for my liking and feel inconsistent on slides which freaks me out being in SF. I thought I was getting OG formula but the little cardboard insert said AG formula...still not sure what the exact difference is. Also felt weird as hell to put new wheels and bearings on trucks that are super beat up and kinda squirrelly. That's obviously no fault on SML though.

Anyway, finally broke down and ordered 3 sets of Spitfire 101 Conical Fulls from 35th Ave to quell the gear crisis. They're just the perfect wheels for me. Nice and stable and break into a slide really easy which is perfect cause I get shook on hills and want to be able to speed check easily.

what mm? i want to get some 101a spits either conical full or tablet next for hills and the slide. just ate a car door for dinner last night on a bs powerslide, 99a can break grip but doesnt feel icy at high speeds

Never skated a tablet shape and have been tempted to give them a try but, I don’t get tech and just skate curbs.

I was adamantly a classics-only person forever, but I ended up with tablets when I couldn't get my usual. I didn't have any extra difficulty getting onto curbs and the lock-in really helped me stick things longer. Definitely changed my view on wheels and I have zero interest in going back to anything with a round edge.

Heading to a crusty east coast beach for a week. Only bringing one board. Should I throw my OJ key frames on? Do you think 99 F4 54 would work fine for some daily flat ground?
