16 riders listed in this thread of how many? Of those riders how many were top level (signature series), how many just sponsored, how many basically flowed?

Massive team. Couldn't tell you the numbers. As for your second question, that'd be subject to interpretation, I don't know what would make someone just a pro or a "top level." Although I can tell you, Chris Jones, Herrington, Soy, Kader, and Bobby all have sig trucks on the brands they went to. And Boserio, Grosso, Bledsoe, Piscopo and BA all have other sig items (be they wheels, shoes, etc.). So not exactly a list of chumps.

I guess my theory is this. Yes they have a massive team, but so does Spitfire. And if Spitfire lost 20ish riders in a year (all of them at least "names") I think people would wonder? No? Maybe I'm wrong, but worth thinking about.

I like Indy
Other trucks seem too slimed down
I have just about every size in several stages and they all work great and turn really well.
The new ones are my favorite, regular standards.
I would try other trucks but I’m sure it doesn’t actually matter that much. I would just rather go with a slightly heavier truck over a lighter truck.

Ok

It’s def worth considering.
Imo it has less to do with protectionist policies, and truck money isnt too big (actually I don’t know that, I’m assuming), and it has everything to do with Indy being shitty to dlx.
At least that’s how it has been explained to me.

I could see this being the case. Once Indy left Ermico there'd be little reason to "get along" so to speak. As you said, in that case it doesn't matter they left to China, but that they left period. They could have moved production to Texas but the result is the same, no longer under the same umbrella, no need to play nice anymore.

Very true. I would add, like Camel Filters pointed out on page one, Venture is definitely picking up guys that would have been considered traditional Indy-style riders, which I find very interesting. Not just super-tech guys.

I guess if the shift at Indy signals a heavy tilt towards SOTY winners and contest machines like Joslin, who granted bring in a ton of business, you're not going to see a lot of purpose in pushing John Rowe... but I find it infinitely fucking cool that DLX does.

Speaking about that, I've always felt that Ribeiro doesn't fit Indy, he's the classic Venture archetype

I want to buy a set of Ventures but it's too hard to find 8.4-8.5" decks with a wheelbase under 14.25"

A lot of Pennswood decks are 14" wb. He had a bunch of really cheap boards up on his web store but I think most of the bigger sizes sold pretty quick, so I would suggest checking out a Scumco logo deck. They're 14"wb and just a cunt hair under 32", with silver spoon concave which is a medium-deep concave with moderately pitched kicks, it's a good all around shape. You can grab one from one of the coolest shop owners out there -

https://thecornerstoreskateshop.bigcartel.com/product/scumco-logo-boards

or straight from one of the coolest brand owners out there

http://www.scumcoandsons.com/merch/dave-abair-national-geographic-dd2g5-zz4y7-kgrrf-e8n37-wm3a2-mhrtx-ts7gx-d8wka

They pair great with Ventures, right now I've got an 8.25 Play (up and coming local Pittsburgh company that also uses Pennswood but with a mellower mold) with 5.6 V-hollows that I'm really enjoying, and I've skated the regular non-forged 5.8s on a Scumco logo 8.5" with good results in the past.

Trucks matter less to good riders for the most part. They can probably adapt.

Also, tons of the riders that left are on DLX brands or are SF dudes that are super DLX loyal. Venture swept the Bay Area largely because of DLX worship/shop networks.

With so many people jumping ship from Indy and they seem to be losing some popularity. I’m wondering If Indy losing riders and popularity or riders switching to venture thunder specifically (elongating WBs)would this effect the industry like will boards start having shorter wheel bases to accommodate the riders new truck sponsor ?

I’m bored at work.

Justin and McCrank got the boot from Royal because they were too obvious about skating Thunders. In fact there was something about it in an old KOTR article about Koston having to call Deluxe about getting a box of trucks.

Has the quality dropped that badly?
[close]

Most people here in the Shoes/Gear forum don't think so. I've had two sets since the switch. Cleaner casting (although I think they look a little too polished) and better stock bushings if anything.

Edit: the only pro I've seen disparage the move to China was John Devine on his instagra. But all in all, it does not appear to be related to the manufacturing locale.

I didn’t know BA left.

Although this happened way before the manufacturing issues. Koston left Indy for Thunder?
[close]

Very recent. His most recent board pics on insta show setups with Aces. And Koston never actually rode Indy but had several sig trucks. This was actually a huge reason Joey T left Indy to start Ace. He was turned off by the idea of sidelining longtime riders for names (Koston always rode Thunders regardless).
[close]

Didn’t koston have an Indy ad where he was very clearly on thunders ? I deff remember photos from a Tampa trip where it was super obvious
[close]

it's too small to tell, but it's this one

also: watch his Chronicles 3 part again.  his trucks change in literally every single clip

hahahhaha i didnt notice it til i saw the larger one - is there any footage of this? bs 180 to fakie 5-0???

Damn their is a lot of cracked Indy’s on there. But it seems like there is kind of a bias. On some of the photos I saw there was sayings like another poorly made truck. When I know a guy who skates thunders and cracks them usually but they are very worn and grinded down when his thunders crack. And some of those Indy’s on that insta  look pretty new.
