The Japanese made the first side scrolling video game… these games always go left to right, but they read right to left.

I would have expected that someone would naturally program it to scroll in the direction they read, but that’s not what happened.  Why?

How the fuck do deaf kids learn to read? Without corresponding sounds the alphabet is completely meaningless. Then what you just have to memorise every word ever invented but can't even sound it all out in your head

Some people say that World War II is just a continuation of WWI.  Not two separate wars, simply one with a two decade lull in the action.  Is there any truth to that?

^^i would say only in the way that all wars and history in general are connected. Maybe in 50-100+ years or something it will just seem like it was all the same thing. Just like how we now basically think of like the wild west, or mediaeval and dark ages of just being one thing going on.

No, that's untrue. Of course there were a lot of throughlines between the two world wars, and WW2 might not have happened the way it did if WW1 had unfolded differently, but the international landscape (for instance, Italy & Japan fought on the Allied side in WW1, but were part of the Axis forces in WW2) as well as the way wars were fought (from trench warfare in WW1 to carpet bombing in WW2) changed so dramatically between 1918 and 1939 that no historian in their right mind would claim they're the same war. Also, there were ratified peace treaties after WW1, so they are different wars from a legal point of view as well.

How should I repair this? It's driving me crazy. I don't always wanna be going full tilt to get through the divot
[close]

Hard one cause you could fix it for like a session but probably fall apart quickly

Pain in arse but best I can think of is you clean the shit out of it, no wax, keyed finish so quite rough not smooth at all then try smash another piece of granite off a side that doesn't matter try use a grinder to shape it to the missing piece
Get a drill and drill like 4 holes in ledge and piece epoxy some rod into holes to hold it and then epoxy everywhere you want it to stick

Lotta work

Otherwise just clean it, rough it up and use a stiff construction grout throw some fibreglass fibres in the mix but I would use epoxy to stick them together just mix that shit in a 711 cup or something you won't need much bro
Clean it up with a grinder after its dried you don't wanna break the bond with the epoxy or it will fall out real quick

Hope you been well Flea

Things are going ok. Thanks. I hope it's the same for you.

What I do now is skate the center of the ledge and just grind further or pop out.  It's frustrating because I can't nose grind over these bumps. This is a new problem for me. Could be the 58mm wheels on top of the dents? Idk.

I wanted to just try body filler but I'm really frightened to hurt the ledge. Imagine some old skater who kinda sucks now fucking up the only ledge in town. I'd hate me if I was a kid

I'm heading down there rn I think see if it's dry over there

I think the real reason they killed Socrates is because he just kept walking around asking people fucking questions all day acting like he was smarter than everybody else.  Gets old after a while.

A car full of 30 year olds getting drunk and going to water parks. What's the stance on that?  A few hours drive and there's an entire city dedicated to water parks, am I wrong for wanting to gather the dudes a thousand beers and hitting that shit up?

I mean probably but maybe not?

Am I going to die alone? Probably. Will it be of a heart attack or a sleep apnea episode? Who knows?

On one hand, you are denying natural law by focusing on selfish and hedonistic pleasure instead of procreating and caring for the less fortunate.  A child in a man’s body, coddled by a decadent society on the edge of economic collapse.  Just another lemming blithely walking towards its doom, whose only thought is “I hope someone wants to ride a water slide with me” like he’s eight years old.

On the other hand, you, like the ancient Epicureans, value simple pleasures and have no guilt in seeking them for both you and your friends.  To live a life of suffering and tedium is most often an individual’s choice.  While so many of us are the walking dead, sleepwalking through a dreary life, you are so on fire with the possibilities of the moment that you cannot help yourself but try to take as many people as you can to experience what a “life fully lived” feels like, if only for one magical, golden day.

Not really but family won div2 in the 90s, it was from what I got told a dece chunk of change

Bloke I used to work with won 80k a couple years ago and put it into Bitcoin but didn't pull out, we were working together when it was crashing and I remember we were tiling bathrooms and he had his laptop in his bathroom, he couldn't sell or look away...haven't spoken to him in a minute tho

Aaaaand, deadset no cap ex partner and I would play same numbers each week we didn't one week and missed out on something like 1.2,1.4 mil

At the time it sucked but now I'm real glad that happened

Seen blokes on site win lotto and never come back

Hillbilly this old tiler I used to work with he won it twice then got cancer, poor bugger. He hooked his family up real good tho

Dad's mate won almost 4 million on keno when it first came out. This would have been early 90s and that was a metric FUCKTONNE of money at the time

Tldr, Matty associates with gamblers haha

I banged my shin up near my knee really badly about a week ago when I was skating. A couple days after it happened, I started having terrible thoughts of it causing a blood clot or deep vein thrombosis and causing a heart attack or stroke. Does anyone know about this kind of stuff? Should I be worried about this?

could even be about getting fat off success. he was a good looking guy til he got bammed out.
should i stop trying to make bam work?

It just struck me that “Half Done Chores” would be kind of a cute name for a mother-daughter acoustic duo.

One time with a girl who had this kind of cat mask beanie thing on. It was about the same as usual the hat played very little into it.
Asking a girl to put on a balaclava on is probably a good way to ruin the mood for the girl tho.

If I had any power upon society, I would put more stress on studying logical fallacies in school.  As in people would know them like they know multiplication tables or basic grammar rules.

I feel like if everyone was constantly thinking about them, they could filter out the vast majority of bullshit of which they are assailed, whether at a personal, professional or political level.
