Hey everyone,
I need some advice on trucks for my 9.13 Andy Anderson deck.
At first I've set  it up with independent 169 which are on another deck now. With indy 169 the tail felt weird/too flat and the setup was heavy. I thought about buying some Thunder 151 or 161 or... . Any advice?

I would say the less you invest into that jalopy of a plank the better. That being said, Mini Logo 129s.

Have you had any Flight boards before?

The feel of flight boards is so different to normal wood, no matter what trucks you have on it, but flight are also very lightweight, so it is odd that it felt heavy, unless you are used to a much smaller lighter board in general.

I know others who have that deck and although it was weird at first, they got used to it, but I wonder if it wouldn't really matter what you put on it, whether it would feel any different.

If the trucks felt too wide, you could try the size down, but I found Flight boards very flat and flexi compared to normal boards.

anyone skate one of these?
Still looking for a nice 9.0 - 9.25 inch board with short wheelbase... I should probably just buy another crail board or a baker

The villani models on primitive are 9.125 with a 14.2 WB. Online says 14.5 but it's really a 14.2...right now I'm riding that volcom bannerot deck collab which is going good. Next up is that primitive morpheus deck.

cheers, I was looking for one actually but hard to find in Japan at the moment...
Not really much around so I might just focus on skating my Polar surf shape until something else comes out. The other option is to set up my Krooked Chico model which is tempting to say the least.

Also found a guy with one of those old chocolate Chico boards for sale which is kinda tempting, but I think the wood would be fresher on my Krooked and it’s basically the same shape (though I did love the last version of that chocolate deck and the graphic is so fresh)

It is my second flight deck. But compared to my other boards it feels like a tombstone :o
Maybe I've to either adjust or accept the fact that this shape isn't for me.

I think some people would be quick to say "Get rid of it" but everyone is different.

If you have other parts, or even other boards, try swapping things out and see how that goes, otherwise it might be a better wall board, or something that could be sold to fund a happier more comfortable deck purchase.

I have an && on my wall right now. It will be the next board i set up after my current flight is worn out.
But the && is much more extreme than most other boards. I used to like a deep concave, but the && is pretty damn steep at the flares.

I’m curious to see how it rides ( i plan on 159 titaniums) but I’m guessing i’ll keep it mainly for transition

All the hype aside, do you think they live up to the cost?  Or are they worth it, for how long they last?

Mostly the only guys I know who ride them are the older chill bowl rider guys, as they are the ones who can buy whatever they like, so it is ironic to me that they would never break boards, yet they are the only ones who can afford them.

They always sold out really quickly though, whenever shops got them in.

I think this shape is better for transition.
With its high concave you can run pretty big wheels. I could ride 60mm with Indy 169. Fun to ride but hard to get used to. Personaly I wouldn't do much flip tricks because it gets easily damaged. Mine starts to delam at the edge after a few failed flip attempts(... I know I'm bad) and gets razortail quite fast.

always wanted one of those quasi boards, shame they didn't keep that shape in rotation, hope your ankle heals up soon because it looks like a  tonne of fun!

I just ordered a 8.88 board and my other polar is a 8.75 so I won't be able to join you guys/ gals for a minute which is a shame because I really like this thread... will stop by periodically to check all the 9" + #deckporn though!

Thanks! This is actually my second (and last) one. It's definitely super fun. I can really only skate it with ventures though due to the sub 14 wb.

I’m kinda in the category you stated.
I don’t break many boards, but ride them till they’re soggy.

I’ve had 3 flights, 2 popsicles and a pool board.
As I don’t do much street, I don’t razor them much, which I think is really the only issue with the flights.

When I do get razor tail, I just sand the tips down and it’s still good to go. Change the grip, and yes, it easily lasts twice as long as a regular board. That much alone makes it worth it to me.

Plus it means less garbage in the long run.

That definitely works!

I know a couple of the guys who have flight boards who skate together also came up with an idea to put the most minimal amount of resin or something on the end of the tail when it wears down a layer, so they get even longer out of them and they don't get to feeling like there is too little in tail length or a weird pop or anything different to the normal board feel.  Pretty ingenious really, as I know the razor tail on those boards happens all too fast compared to normal seven ply boards.

Ive never done flight decks, but i did VX for a while. I ride street and thought it would be good to not worry about breaking decks as I’m a little heavier and older and have to say the boards lasted forever. Could have easily kept skating it, but i like a change every now and again.

I have to say though, the impact and stiffness of the deck really took its toll on my knees, i was getting pain all the time. Since i switched back to wood I’m not getting the pain anymore.

I got some 9" wide Krux that I had with a Santa Cruz reissue a few years ago. Hate the short nose on the Roskop so I'm looking at 9" Decks.

I really like the tapered shape like the Madness Column but I'm worries that the board will taper in and be too narrow at the wheels for the 9" trucks. Is this something to look out for?

Do I need to go for a tapered 9.25" to avid this issue?

I would either try their 9.125 that isn’t as tapered or pick up some 159’s to run on it. Looks like it tapers pretty heavy at the back end.

Just got this doom set up. I really like it. 14.75WB. 9.25" width with some taper.
Two changes though, OCD made me take the sticker off, and I added some Lil Jawns white rails to it, one of the screws stripped and the tip with through the grip. Oh well.
As I am skating bowls and tranny more I am getting more into having a specific set up for it...I dont really like that. I like having one board I can ride on everything. I need to find a goldilocks board that is a 9" popsicle with a 14.75" wheelbase but a fullish shape. I feel like the 15" WB on the Antihero I was riding (I focused it recently, whoops) was too big. BL makes that 33x9 pop with a 15" wheelbase but I keep thinking itll be the same thing.
In a fit of desperation and revolt, I bought the two 9" polar boards with 14.5s for more streetish riding, and probably to ride the miniramp I am about to order.

I feel like that CODA 9" 14.75" is the board, but Pat hasnt gotten them back in stock yet, sadly.

Anyway this board is fun, the nose shape is a little weird, I did a fast FS carve through a tight pocket the other day and my foot slipped off...forward? weird.
ok thanks

Setup a 9.0 Quasi I took apart some months ago. My ankle is fucked and I can’t skate but it gave me something to do to pass the time

Quasi 9.0
Venture 5.8 titanium
Sml 40mm
Bronson G3
OJ juice bar

I would DDT my own mother to get my hands on that deck.

Beautiful set up, my dude!

Thank you sir!
