im sure ive seen footage of this spot thousands of times, but this photo really makes it seem so much longer and gnarlier than any footage ive seen. great shot man.
Same here, man. What a great way of depicting something iconic in a totally different way. Great one, Randozzi!

And Cadillac, I wish I could manage colour the way you do ! Keep up the good work with the fanzine !
Thanks, man! I really appreciate that, especially because I don't really think I'm too good at managing color myself, or at least keeping it consistent. I've been trying to start shooting Kodak Ektar exclusively just to have a consistent look of color because I often feel like some of my shots look too different to be in a series together. With digital, I don't even mess with anything in post for the most part, aside from slight exposure stuff, so the color's pretty natural.

Speaking of the zine, I actually just released Issue Two last week! It's got work from over 20 photographers, including an interview with one of my favorite street photographers Gary Gumanow ( http://gumanowphotography.weebly.com/ ). So if anybody is interested, they can pick it up at Magcloud here:

picked up a cheap Olympus EPL1 which should be with me for the weekend.

Does anyone have any experience with this camera? I'm totally new to using anything other than a cheap compact camera or phone so any hints/tips or sites to have a look at would be greatly appreciated.

Any cheap lenses worth picking up or keeping an eye out for which will enhance my experience with it?

About a year ago I bought one to bring with me on a trip, because I wanted something I could use for more touristy shit while shooting film for everything else.  However, I touched it once on that trip, and haven't really used it for much since.  If I ever use it now it's to screw around with weird long exposures or doing stuff on bulb mode.  Not a bad little camera by any means, but doesn't really line up with what or how I shoot.  Sorry that's probably not much help.  Maybe lurk flickr to see what lenses people are using?  You can buy adapters for most brands, so if you have any old Canon FD lenses or Nikon stuff that could be fun...

Took some long exposures at the Fair this weekend. What's really interesting is that on the green spinny ride, you can see the people like I took a quick snapshot even though its a 3 to 4 second exposure. This happened on the majority of the photos I took. My thought is that it's like a helicopter blade that's spinning so fast, but it looks like each blade is going really slow. If anyone knows an actual reason, please share.

Did you start the exposure before it started spinning?

^ No, this was in the middle of the ride when it was going super fast.

Edit: I was thinking it about it again, and it could be that someone else there took a photo with a flash and that's what caught the people.

Ektar. Only works with the slow lens during summer, but then it works pretty well.

nice. i might have to pick some up next time i buy film. although i rarely shoot it, i found that my trip 35 works pretty well with iso 100 when its sunny out and ive had some decent results with lomo 100. i know a lot of people love ektar and the results i see online are always really nice.

I don't think it could be a photo flash it would have to be super powerful to penetrate, it's more likely a blue light that flashed inside that thing.....maybe?
Very rad stuff regardless.

I'm heading out to drop off 4/5 rolls right now. Stoked.

its one of the dudes who works in our web department. he has diabetes and has to go in for dialysis treatments all the time and i guess his veins got really fucked up from the injections so they had to go in and like scrape them out or something. the picture doesnt do justice on how badly fucked up his arms are just from all the shit he has to go through.

kind of a funny story about that shot. i finished all my work for the day a few hours early and i was really bored, so i went out for a walk. on my way back i was stopped and taking a stupid photo of some old pay phone with a funny sticker on it when out of nowhere someone runs at me from the side yelling something. i work in detroit and its not uncommon for people to run up on you and steal your phone, camera, purse, ect. so i totally thought they were going for my camera and i jumped back and kind did the best i could to pull it in tight to my body. i went from casually standing there to having the shit scared out of me in less than a second. turns out it was this guy and he saw me shooting a photo and tried to jump in front of the shot. i knew he had just had surgery a few days before and didnt expect him to be at work so i asked him how he was doing and thats when he showed me his arm and i snapped the photo.
