I watched some of Todd's late 80s footage. He was actually ok at vert. There are some clips of him doing hideous early grabs from that era, but in the very late 80s he was perfectly capable of airing on vert ramps and doing handplants. Shit confused me. Wondering if a life-changing event happened to him. Kinda assuming he drank random chemicals in the garage during an early horror movie filming.

Skateboarding changed, almost overnight for a lot of people. Maybe he lost a step and never recovered? I dunno why it was so goddam hard to learn how to flatground ollie but have you ever seen that Gator footage of him trying to skate street? It's pretty brutal.

He used to skate a lot at my local when I was a kid (Dex Skatepark in Texas). It was kind of embarassing. Although his like 6-7ft airs on mini ramp were cool.
