No it was the team and not a rumour. It's all over this very page if you scroll up a bit.

TNT did get punched out in Aus tho and I think some ah guys/Phelps copped it in England
[close]

Ah yes, should have read the thread (got triggered)

So it's Tony T, Frank G and Tony M to blame.  Not sure who else was on that trip?

Heard Phelps said the N word at Southbank and got shut down.  There's a clip on youtube somewhere.

I went looking for Phelps at Southbank and found this totally unrelated video which I somehow have never seen.

Fucking brilliant innit mate. Love this video

Phelps' gigantic swing and miss from five feet away on Rowley was perfect. What a drunk asshole.

I ruined Pulaski by not bringing beer and pizza to the locals, but I'm not pro tho
[close]

I've skated pulasksi a bazillion times and never once seen someone bring beer and pizza to the locals. It's not burnside, you don't have to pay off the people that live under the bridge, you just have to be sensible and not a asshole.
[close]

Yeah I feel like the whole pizza and beer thing was something that people took way too literally
[close]

You wont get chased out if you come empty handed or anything, and its not like back in the day where you'd get vibed out of the place. BUT You'll def have a better time if you come bearing gifts.
[close]

This is the weirdest "out of towners" tribal mentality I've heard of in skating... It's a public park, nobody spent any money or time to make pulaski skateable. When DC skaters travel, are you showing up to eggs, pier 7 or macba with a 30 pack and donuts for the "locals"?

That being said, I've skated pulaski many times, I've waxed the ledges, filmed lines and never encountered this vibe at all, everyone's been friendly

[close]
Exactly. Only time I’ve seen someone get vibed was a crazy bum talking trash that got swarmed and beaten by 10 or so people swinging boards…

The "pizza and beer" is definitely taken too literally. And no it's def not the olden days.

A lot of it works like being at a party. If you have a 12er and someone looks thirsty, ask if they're interested. If you've talked to someone for the last 15 minutes and you are going to the CVS across the street, ask if they need anything. Alternatively, instead of a pizza and beer, say hello or offer a handshake or ask me if that was switch. (Thanks but it was not switch.) These all work. I think it's more don't isolate yourself/don't act out of pocket/try to interact with folks/enjoy the company.

And, yes, i do the same when i travel cause i feel like these are just a good look. If i bring a six pack to a spot, I offer folks a beer. If I'm in a foreign city and meet skaters, i go up and shake folks hands. And it has gone a long way in my experience.

Thanks!  :)

Also why do you always feel the need to say if you kooked or gnarred someone? Do you want a prize?
(that was a joke also by the way)

I do what i do and you do what you can do about it. (nothing)

all of these kinds of random and fleeting disagreements and scuffles between these people remind me of the adorable fighting and arguing that goes down between Dignan and Bob and Anthony throughout Bottle Rocket...

Wtf is wrong with this dude. How can anybody be this much of an asshole. Fuck him
[close]

Woah, TNT and Frank sound like real pieces of shit.
Side story to that trip :
In Sugar magazine, french skateboarder Max Genin told how Frank gave him the end of a beer during the Bowlrider contest and an hour after or so Max (16 at the time) started to experience acid effects and he went MIA for 24h. He came back to his senses as he was wandering by himself in Marseille... He also suffered occasionnally from resurgences of these effects many months after the event.

That's how you become a legend in skateboarding apparently...

i guess being 16 at some crazy event like that might explain why Max Genin would take "the end of a beer" from Frank Gerwer, and it's always seemed like Frank's a decent enough guy and all--especially considered amongst many of those AH people--but Frank definitely seems like the last motherfucker i would accept "the end of a beer" from...

To save anyone the time and trouble There is no Southbank video. no trace of it in the original thread about him spitting on a lil girl and using the N word, only people asking for proof
