Egg Shaped Boards
« on: June 23, 2018, 12:30:53 PM »
I've been really curious about "egg" or football shaped boards. For example the Heroin Big Egg, or the Cardiel Antihero. They seem like they'd skate pretty well as all around boards for both street and tranny. Just curious what peoples thoughts were on them and how they skate. Also if anyone knows any other companies making these shapes I'd be interested in seeing more decks of this style.

I skated an 8.75 alltimers egg a while back. Loved it and wish they would bring it back.

I'm skating the Baker Impact Stripe egg right now and love it.  I've got the Heroin Big Egg lined up next.  Let's also not forgot that these are early 90s shapes, so make sure to set it up with some wide trucks and 48mm wheels.

I've been really interested in this 90's football shape trend. Alex had a good looking shape on his promodel for 917 and Blind made some reissues of the 90's grafics but the boards were pretty overpriced.

plus CK's promodel for girl is a football shape but the size is 9.25" so I don't think I could pull that off

yeah the cardiel and kennedy are the same shape.  these boards are 9+ at their widest point, but with the strong taper at the nose and tail, they don't really feel that wide.

Here's the impact stripe, kennedy and big egg side by side.  The kennedy has a pointier nose and slightly fatter tail, big egg is more symmetrical football, and the impact stripe is more like the kennedy but just feels overall bigger.

Welcome antheme is a football shape too. 9" with a 14" wheelbase.

The crail power slide or whatever shape is interesting too. Sub 14wb on a 9 inch deck I think

You just made me look at crailtap.com for the first time in years. That powerslide board is 9.25 wide and the wheelbase is 13.875.

I just skated the Big Egg and now I'm currently on the Cardiel.  The exact two boards from your initial comment.

The Big Egg is great but ultimately I wasn't feeling the 14.25 WB so I switched to the Cardiel which has a 14.75 WB and a more traditional popsicle tail.

Both great boards, just depends if you like a long or short WB

So I can see it on my phone if you quote it or did you edit something? I thought maybe it was a mobile issue.

Anyway I wanted a football shape too, after watching Chico Instagram clips on repeat.

Really liked this deck so waited for Memorial Day sale, and had some fresh ace 55s to pair with it I bought a while back. Deck is a Creature ever slick 8.88 and almost feels like the 55s are not wide enough, but haven’t skated because I just recovered from a gnarly heel bruise and wanted to skate my regular setup again first

You posted the wrong link in the img bracket - you posted the library link as opposed to the link to the photo in the library. I could see the link when I tried to quote you, followed said link and got the correct URL for you.
