Lowkey wanna cop a Polar "football"(egg) shape but I dont wanna size down trucks. I ride Ace 55s and someone on here that even though it's an 8.75 those would be too wide because it tapers a lot. Anybody had luck with 8.75 trucks( thunder 151, indy 159, ace 55 etc) on this shape?

I have a Polar Footy setup at the moment. I ride Ace 44 on it and it's perfectly flush over the bolts. But I lent the board to a mate who rides 159 and they stuck out, but not enough to matter because technically it was still flush with the widest point of the board, so you won't really have any issues pushing and kicking your axle.

Just want to note before you buy one though, compared to other football shapes I've skated, the Polar has VERY narrow, pointed nose and tail. While the overall size is pretty comfy, it's a bit off-putting IMO. Saying that I skate 95% transition and prefer fuller tails like the Blind FUBK reissues have.

Ace 55s are 9.0” wide.

I got a real R1 oval rn. It appears to be slightly egged 8.5 it’s pretty nice. The kicks are pretty high so it’s not really accurate to the old days. Last year I got a few Hi-tek boards maybe the year before. I’ll post a flick later. I saved one of the hi-tek decks.

144 is fine. The 8.3 tapers down to 8 or even 7.9

You want 149s or 8.5” trucks on any egg shaped board between 8.5”-9.25”
I have every size truck and I really like 159s and 169s but 149s are the best size truck, a lil deck overhang of 3/8”th inch in each side is nothing especially with taper.
Just buy 149 Indy’s and get some aftermarket bushings from Indy and size those puppies up with boards in real life at your skateshop, they will work on any board from 8.25”-9.25”- different sized trucks are a fucking conspiracy to make old men buy several pairs of trucks. 149s turn the best, silver, standard weight and height. This is not complicated.

Im thinking of making a egg board set up because i like how they are wide and dont have really fat noses. What are some other good things about egg shapes? Are they good for certain opsticals or are they good for all terrain and anything?

Good for spin and flip tricks But more foot drag on tail and nose slides.  It’s like a big board that skates like a tiny board

i bought that pysanka board a while ago and am still really enjoying it: dimensions feel real good under my feet. ended up sanding off the bottom graphic, but the top graphic is definitely fun to grip around. thx for the shout out GISM hahah.

How’s you end up liking it?
I set mine up and hated it the first session so I chilled on it for a bit. Set it back up recently and I’ve been hooked.

Chico's got an egg shaped guest board coming out soon, the company hasn't been revealed yet.  That'll be my first egg shape/big boy board.  I was told to get 149 or 159 hollow Indys for it.

my guess is krooked, he was riding a big boy shape on his stories with gonz flowers all over the bottom of it. Great shapes but maybe a tad too short in w/b if you rock tight w/b trucks like indy/ ace

I personally like the Blind reissues that are egg'd. Skate 'em with 159's. Super fun, even though Blind.
