When people live in a bubble somtimes it seems that those peoples humor can start to seem kind of clunky.  Id say the anti hero guys or the whole deluxe crew kinda have had theyre bubble going for a while now.

is this a hypothetical? Cause it’d be kind of cool to see anti hero shed it’s old pro tranny image for a lost pro retirement image.

Pretty sure Grimple Stix is an homage to 80s skateboard graphics and shapes, not a comment on Welcome. duh.
Gerwer and Hewitt's model graphics look like a schmidtt stix board. And obviously mark lake + hosoi on the night hammer. And I dont even have to mention the team riders age so i won't.

grimple has almost 50K followers already. if these fake brands actually take off they wont be fake brands anymore, which im sure DLX is hoping happens. I dont really wanna support any brand where the company owners are sitting at the office laughing about "people are actually buying this stuff"

Do you buy processed food, cigarettes, or alcohol?

Anti-Hero (I'm not going along with that grimplestix shit) is doing Jerry's Boys of Summer board so cool. I'm glad he's finally on a thing and not falling into limbo.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this and this seems like a logical place to ask. Did 18 drop all the "fake" brands besides Grimple? It is the only one included in the spring drop in the catalog for this year.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Clearly this.  At first glance I thought it was also influenced by an early 90s Kevin Staab company called Shine.

^^^ you dudes are fried. when they started this whole shit mark lake was getting tagged in the posts. its a ripoff of his board, not up for debate seeing as antihero cleared this up themselves.

Dawg Shit was pretty tight. RIP.

Jerry on antihero but still has the best part in baker 4.

Mark Lake for the shape, Schmitt Stix for the name, and I've submitted Shine as a graphic inspiration.  Chicken soup has more than just chicken in it.

Gerwer's Magician and Hewitt's Puppet Master graphics are in line with a lot of the characters on 80s board. Staab's Pirate and the crazy haired scientist mixing test tubes, Grosso's Evil Baby and the toy blocks, Lucero's Joker in the toy box. It's like everyone had their own character theme and stuck with for a few years.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

these came out at the same time as a bunch of their other new “brands” that were obviously riffing on traffic, polar, sk8mafia, etc., and their friend’s IG post about all the new skate companies. they’ve also done a quasi joke graphic before. they are definitely making a comment but how serious they are is up for debate.

i know its not but-- if that graphic was an actual deboss on the caridel board and it was a proper stain job i would buy it in a second.

That sounds like a great project.  The only thing I'd be afraid of is finding out the first layer under the heat transfer is purple or something.

It's just one of the team riders accounts who changed their name to Grimple sticks ... they already had dumb followers. Shalom

Jerry, or someone, should go nose slide that huge hubba in the Hillcrest Trader Joes in SD.
