I believe what you're referring to is a Fabry situation, he was sleeping on Sean Sheffey' couch or living with him slept with his gal. Danny Gonzalez got a raw deal from DLXSF.

From what I remember,  I’m pretty sure he thought he was worth more than he really was so that rubbed people in the industry the wrong way and he’s been trying out his LinkedIn resume ever since.

there was a thread bout this a while back. there was some kinda drama with element basically phasing him out. he said they stopped telling him when deos were and when filming trips were BUT he didnt make any effort to find out so yknow.. it works both ways.. that and the fact that he's been saying
 'i have another part in me i just need a good sponsor'
 for pretty much a decade but never posts any footage its not really an enticing prospect for a company to take the risk..

Yeah I remember that thread. I for some reason looked past it till this thread though. I feel like he just isn't trying but still wants to be relevant with current skating. I don't blame him though cause he has a family and now owns his business. But as a legend, I feel like it shouldn't be hard to get someone to film you

Bastien Salabanzi. He was on top of the world with Flip and Vans (and whoever else), but kooked out and stuck with some off-brand Euro companies for well over a decade.

My favorite Mike Plumb story is when he went into a contract meeting with DuFFS wearing a pair of Vans. I'm not 100% sure if it is true, but it is, he kooked himself out of a sponsor during the signing process, which would be an amazing feat.

He was'nt on Vans for years by the time he left Flip he was on Etnies and had a couple Pro models.. He quit Flip because they told him he had to kickflip back lip El toro among other things and he wanted to stop skating contest and they weren't having it.. He quit Flip in 2006 got on Jart in 2008ish and quit in 2012 cause of putting his name on wack graphics..He went without a board sponsor until 2015 when he got on Primitive..

Basically what happened was that wray stepped on schillereffs toes by wanting to have creative control over things. Schillereff decided that he was gonna destroy wray's career by waning him out, making him understand that he was nothing but a puppet and that his time was over. And this he did. Mind you schillereff and wray are more or less the same age, so Schillereff viewed Wray as a competitor.

As you say, wray's problem has been that he comes from an era when pros were treated like royalty. All they had to do was perform when asked to. He doesn't have the self producing go getter mentality of today's pros. He needs legitimation given by a major company before he will go out there and film.
