I guess its a subjective question but does the .25 change in wheelbase really affect the way a board feels that much?
I wish it didn’t.
When I got back skating I had went through or tried out quite a few boards of various widths, 8.25 up to a 9.25. I eventually figured out every deck I liked the feel of was a 14.25 wheelbase. It has ruined my life and made it easier at the same time.
I did skate a 14.5 yesterday with some mini logo trucks and it felt surprisingly good, usually on slappy trucks so maybe the lowness of the mini logo made it feel better?
I can't remember who posted it but it was to the effect of "all the deck / truck wheelbase madness is pointless because what everyone wants eventually is to get the feeling of riding Indys".
i get what they were going for
and they probably know they are wrong
but let me just say it again: they are wrong
indys were my first truck
and that started my truck madness
cheers to those who like a high truck
but it was an awful experience for me
wouldnt go back if you paid me
I dont understand how someone’s first set of trucks can make for an awful experience. My first set of trucks was some ancient trackers w plastic baseplates. They worked til they didn’t. Wheelbase and truck height wasn’t a thing to pay mind to, even deck measurements- wide or skinny was what mattered during the first 10 or so years.
they were the first set of trucks i bought myself
i had owned a setup before that was kicked down
dont remember exactly what trucks those were
because it really didnt matter then
but they definitely werent stage 11 tall
that was well before i knew wheelbase and etc
but they felt unstable and awkward
or at least far from what i knew and the feel i like
