Btw black grizzly is the way to go
[close]

I understand the hate against Grizzly because of their stupid marketing stuff, but the fact is that their standard black grip is in between MOB and Jessup in terms of grip and is quite of high quality, it holds well in time and under any temperature, so it's definitively the best I have skated so far. On Tactics it's only ~1$ when you buy a deck.
[close]

Never even considered it because it looks goofy. Is the bear outline permanently cut out and, if not, is it visible if not removed?
[close]

They make black grip without the bear. Solid black. Got one sheet of it some years ago. Can't say how it is as a grip though as I only skated that deck a few times. 🤔

It's a little harder to find. Skateshops don't really carry grizzly and I don't think the blank grip is what grizzly customers really want. a quick look online and I only see it at Zumiez. I bought a bunch of it on clearance when a shop closed. And yeah,  a middle ground between mob and Jessup is a close description.

I'd say if you see any grizzly in person, check out the grit and then decided if it's worth the trouble to find it blank

For all the people saying they like Jessup the way it is, this product isn't for you. This is to take a chunk of the market that is currently owned by MOB.

I will also use this time to again state I can't stand Jessup, the grit falls off and leaves a slick black gripless film on the board. I was completely dissatisfied with the sheet I just rode because of it. I never should have tried it, I figured after 10 years they would have fixed that.

Same problem here, that's really, really annoying. Never Jessup again.

From what I can gather, Mob created M-80 to be more like Jessup and now Jessup created Ultragrip to be more like Mob

This.

Also, why ask Grosso? Doesn't his fat as...er mass just keep him on his board at this point?

They aren’t a skateboard company.

crazy I always like that it leaves behind the film when you land with the board upside down. might be bostalgia  but it looks like a shredded bag or something.

I skated mob M80 as well and liked it but Ive riding jessup almost exclusively for 20 or 19 years to change.

Sucks that Ashes is so hard to find, love that grip.

Regular Jessup is the gold standard, but I do like the grip of mob for certain things.

The problem I have with mob is that the adhesion is often piss poor, and all it takes is fucking up a flip trick one time for it to curl up at the ends. I’m talking no matter how much you file or sand the edges after gripping, the adhesion is just bad. If you end up getting dirt and debris beneath the grip when it lifts, forget about it, you gotta pull the entire thing off.

It’s a shame because I do like mob, but it has huge faults.

I've skated vary close to only mob for the past at least 8 years, and I've never had a problem with it coming off. I had the creases on nose and/or tail plenty, but it stays on there.

Really? I’ve had it start to curl many times, under different circumstances and environments. The creasing too is something I’ve experienced.

It doesn’t deter me from using it though.

just recently did the sand the top a little thing on new mob (just on the nose a little).  seems like it's easy to overdo it. doesn't take much to get it smoother -just a few strokes if that with a scrap piece.  and i still have the durability of mob which never feels like it needs to be replaced, which is why i switched from being a jessup guy years ago.

Yes, I have some, it is grippier than normal jessup, just as thin, and chunks off just like regular jessup.

Sounds nice. Does it wear down as fast as Mob?

Is it just my imagination or was Black Magic once up there with Mob & Jessup as an industry standard?  Like 20 years ago, I just remember it being the main thing.  At least in Jersey it was.

Ive been skating reg mob and love it but been curious about jessup or something less grippy. How does shake junt fit in the mob - jessup grippyness scale?
