DOA 8.25 Flat (14.25 WB)
Venture 5.8
53mm F4 Classics 99

DOA 8.5 (14.5 WB)
Ace 55
52mm F4 Tablets 101

This is my second DOA 8.5” in a row. I think I’m going to be hooked on this shape for a while and I prefer the South Central wood to any other I’ve skated in the past year. The 55/tablet looks wonky but just feels great - low, stable, and responsive.

For real tho, the graphic looks good. Link her website so we can check it out
Thanks man, it really is an amazing graphic. a lot people think it's collage work but she paints everything by hand and then scans everything in. the original painting are pretty expensive but scanned prints are really reasonable.

Here is a link to the thicket instagram, husband and wife team. they're really awesome friends!

Dunno why my truck looks crooked I promise it's not. Second skate on the Welcome and honestly I'm digging it, was initially a little skeptical as I'm used to big boards and I thought going down to an 8.125 14.25WB that skates like an 8 would be awful but it's pretty enjoyable, feels very nimble and easy to chuck around. Would be nice to have a wider board so I think I might check out the Pysanka shape, 8.5 14.25wb skates like an 8.125

Had one welcome and it was unrideable for me. Sylph stick. Or something. I like ps Stix. I like that welcome suggests a truck size. It’d be cool if more companies listed measurements across the trucks. I have gone past information overload on the subject of skate, but the measurement of the deck at the mounting holes seems necessary.

I'm only wondering what message it's trying to convey. I believe it's that he wouldn't have the passion to pursue his goals nowadays with all this gluttonous technology
My trick variety is lacking heavily and there is nothing I'm doing to fix that. Keep that in mind when applicable X^)

The whole joke premise of that sticker is that you need to find Nazis are bad. C'mon it's a Nazi on a hoverboard with a selfie stick, it's obviously not serious.

Now if it was just a full on swastika, that's a different story.

Suppose it depends on which shape you got, looking at their catalogue there's certain shapes I know I couldn't get away with but thenagain I didn't expect to enjoy this one as much as I am. Most likely gonna check this shape out next

Been debating board sizes and going up and down and wanting something bigger for transition but also not being hampered on flip tricks so I think that could be the one.

I've got the same 8.25 Strings deck but haven't skated it yet, but I have an 8.125 FAF that I've lovingly beaten the shit out of and it's still going strong as well as an 8.38 square shape thats great too. DOA just does shit right and they've quickly become one of my favorite companies... and yeah SC wood is awesome, second only to Pennswood in my book. Speaking of which...

Play 8.25 split veneer (Pennswood)
Venture 5.6 V-hollows
Niki Red Lobo 54mm 101a
Cortina bearings
Bender 7/8" Allen Hardware
Jessup Ultra

Shout out to the homie @ Overcast skate shop that stashed this for me until payday.

Deck is kiddie pool concave and 14" wb, so the ventures stretch it out a little and make it closer to the ~14.25 range that seems to be my sweet spot. And of course, since it's PW the pop is crazy good. Got the Cortinas for 99 cents from zumiez outlet and they seem to be pretty similar to Bronson/Indy black so maybe from the same factory NHS uses? They spin a really long time on the hand spin test but don't seem to be that fast when you're actually rolling on them but they're still pretty new so maybe they'll break in.

He goes all out with the details (like the embossed rackets) and the fit/finish on the products is always tight.  I just put in the first real sessions on my 8.25 strings this weekend and it feels great with the Ventures. I’ve gotta try a Pennswood deck soon.

Yeah I love how his graphics are really minimalist but there's always little details like the embossing. It's a really timeless style. If you have any questions about Pennswood decks feel free to hit me up, I might be able to help you find one that fits you.

8.5 Terror of Planet X from Pennswood

Mob grip

Thunder 149. Playing around with super loose trucks so I sliced about an eighth of an inch off the top bushings. The problem I had riding them normal was that when it’s warmish out the trucks stay loose fine but when it’s cold they tighten up super quick to the point where I can’t loosen the nut anymore without it falling off. Slicing the top bushing solved the issue. Figured out a way to do it without slicing my fingers off.

Mini logo bearings

Ricta cloud 54mm, 78a. Switch back and forth between these and 53mm AA spitfire F4’s, 99a depending on where I’m skating.

I actually found it easier to sand bushings down, either with a power sander or even just taking them and rubbing them on some grip scraps (and since you ride mob it shouldn't take long). Every time I tried to do it by cutting it would come off in little flakes and be all uneven and just bother me, whereas sanding kept it relatively level. Just be careful if you use some high speed sander that you don't melt them and make sure you've got a good grip on them or be prepared to try to figure out where the fuck your bushing landed when it flew across the room.

I don’t currently have a power sander so what I did was take the top washer off but leave the bushing and tightened nut on the truck (to hold the bushing in place), then cut to the kingpin with a serrated sharp pocket knife, rotating the bushing so the cut goes all the way around. Then I took the bushing off and rubbed it totally flat on the mob grip on an old deck. Worked great and didn’t take much time!
