Polar Shin Sanbongi surf deck 8.75
Thunder 149
Bones stf 103a 54mm

itís a fun board for sure!
[close]

Itís a weird shape in that I loved it on day 1, was mildly ambivalent on day 2 then switched the Thunders for some Venture 5.6 and now I love it again haha
[close]
nice, my first session in it was frustrating due to nollie ghost pop, but once I started skating it like it was 91 (quick shove it before nollie tricks) I started to really enjoy it!
I have mine on 56mm wheels and ace 44s, Iím guessing the thunders stretched the wheelbase out too much?

Haha, for sure (the 91 comment)

The Thunders actually felt good but weíre a little too low and the back truck was hot rodding a little (axles are 8.5 whereas the Ventures are 8.25), which I didnít like. The Ventures actually push the wb out a little further and are taller so the pop feels better for me.

Overall it reminds me of a slimmed out Dane1 I think

I rode 7.75s and 54mm wheels thinking I was Matt Reason in 96, my friend rode an 8Ē and I told him he was overdoing it 😂

This is too real. I remember this one dude I know had an 8.5" in 1996/97 and the fact that they even made one was mind blowing to us all. I also think a part of my dislike of big wheels comes from seeing them on 7.5"-7.75" boards, though I am finally getting over that (sort of).

Matt Reason made me love the look of big wheels though, I even had his physics wheel ... which was ridics because it was bigger than Mike Frazierís wheel. Well it seemed to work for him!

Honestly if I never found slap Iíd still be rocking 7.75s with 54mm wheels, I skated that size for a good 15 or so years. Saw a older guy at my local getting back into skating on his old 7.5 krooked and it just looked so cramped ...

So I couldnít get down with my aces for some reason. They turned great, especially with the riptides. My pop just was so fucked. They just felt odd to me. I tried a few sessions, gave em a shot but just wasnít feeling them or having fun. Kinda bummed. Still kept them on the other deck, so maybe i'll try again in the future.

Got some ventures for the first time, weíll see. If these donít work Iím just going back to indys and call it a day.

I will admit 54mm wheels do look pretty wacky and comical on a 7.75 with some 129s but 54mm wheels is what Iíve been on for a decade now so I wanted to stay close to what Iím used to especially since itís already such a drastic jump in board size as it is; and plus its the only spare wheels I had laying around too.

Ok

7.75 is the best size.
7.75 with 54s looks bad, skates good.

Friend of mine got back into skating a few years back. He was incensed when he couldnít find a 7.5. I think he finally got the 7.5, 129s, and 58s. When you want to be like Lavar, but also ee3.

@Noble Experiment it looks totally fine to me now. I also had no concept of the fact that certain wheels were wider and narrower back then.

129s and 58s is pretty wild though.

Looking good. Hard to beat a white deck (tho natty woodgrain get's my vote every time), raw trucks, (off) white wheels.

Thank you! Just scooped some. This inspired me to beak out my loopholes, though I think I may have to go down to 44s from 55s because of how wide they are.

FA Nak Hands
8.5
14.25 WB

Thunder 151s Hollow Lights [Riptide Pivot cups]
Spitfire F4 56mm Conical Full
Bones Reds Big Balls
MOB

That looks so good! Basically my setup except Iíve got a Hockey 8.5 (point break graphic) and indy hollows 159, makes me wanna try thunder 151s (was on FA/Hockey 8.38 and thunder 149 Team hollows until recently, with 54mm conical fulls)

I probably shouldnít, I really like my 159s, but damn that setup looks crispy
