I'm the type of guy that buys all the clearance skate stuff that I have an interest in even if I don't need it at the moment (the ONLY cool part of being in your 30s) 3 decks, 3 sizes, 3 woodshops also a pair of Ace af-1 33s ($39.99 local) and Ricta Maurio McCoy naturals 54mm ($21.99 local)

Globe 8.0 x 31.6 r7 deck ($14.99 the-house.com product dump) dwindle

Hockey 8.5 x 32.0 deck ($52.99 local shop) BBS

And my favorite score a 8.125 x 31.6 Schmidt Stix Flip deck with the old Iron Horse logo!!! ($28.00 craigslist!!!)

My last two setups were a madness (dwindle deck, resin 7 dwindles still last me longer than BBS decks, IDC where they are made) 8.125 with steep concave and kicks and an 8.38 FA (BBS) with mountainess kicks and medium concave, what am I going to experience going to this flat as fuck Flip deck from Schmidt? The last time I had a professor Schmidt deck was 2014 as I quit skating for a long while.

Super nitpicky but Scmhitt Stix and PS Stix are two different companies and Paul left Vision/Scmhitt Stix before the 90s and started PS Stix

So you are saying the schmidt stix no longer exists? And that PS Stix is professor Schmidts woodshop since the 90s? My bad I never really new he switched shops. Still love the deck find but I haven't skated a mellow deck in a long time.

Ok

Every time I go on a gear madness journey I end up right back where I started

Quasi 8.5
Thunder 149 w/Bones Mediums
Spitfire F4 99 Classics 53 mm
Bones Swiss
Mob
Skate Half Cabs

I should know this…

Is that the shape that tapers to like 8.25 at the back?

I mean you got a lot of the good stuff there, so I can see why you comeback.
Halfcabs on mob tho, that break your ankle flick

I’m just trying to offer a differnt perspective I mean do we really need another 8.25-8.75 hipster shitty brand with shit half assed graphics or graphics drawn by a shit artist who acts like they are purposely drawing shitty but really they just suck,( like what the fuck is that polar shit I tried to watch that shitty shopping cart smiley face video in New York and it was so boring literally zero handrails) and plain heavy ace or thunder truks and plain wheels with angsty cut up wannabe artsy grip tape. You guys only skate that shit cause you wanna be cool small decks and coloured truks r the best. I bet nobody riding shit can double flip a 7 stair. There’s a reason the top best pros today (Nyjah, Mike papa, Corey macentide, manny Santiago, John Hill) all ride 7.75

Probably rides an 8.5 now

I just checked and  yeah, it does taper a bit. But the kicks are mellow and they feel more blunt than pointy to me. It's one of the PS ones and those shapes always work well for me.

I'm currently riding the Alvarez deck (G052) from this series with Thunder 148s as well. It's a solid and fun setup. Are you using yours for cruising, bruising, or both?  :D

Only photo I have right now. Took off the big ass riser pads (I ordered the wrong size but they served their purpose for cruising) and replaced them with the Real wood 1/4 inch risers.

Dane 1
Ace AF1 55
OJ Super Juice for cruising/Spitfire Classic 56 worn down to 52 for everything else
Bones Reds (I think the OJ’s have Big Balls in them)
Mob always
Also threw on some Heroin Glowsticks

Element 8.75/32.75/14.75
149 Mids
101 Radial Slim (52ish now)
Assorted bearings
Indy 7/8 Allen

Finally bit on some sales - new deck and I’ve always been curious about the Mids. First session felt crazy good. Deck is China made, great shape and dimensions. Not an Indy dude but I’m loving these mid trucks. Indy hardware is the best all black hardware I’ve found too. I’m going full hellride.

This looks great. To my eyes, the hangar on the mids looks more like the older stages than the 11s do. It always tempts me, even though I absolutely do not need any more trucks.

Why would you deliberately use Ace nuts? I had at least on axle nuts and a kingpin nut (from smiths) constantly turning loose on my af1. Swapped them out and no issues since then. Never had that with the kingpin nut on any other set of trucks. Wonder if it was the nyloc on both types of nuts or if it had something to do with the rethreading gimmick as well on the axle nuts.

These are the old “38 specials” ace had out years ago that are the same size as hardware bolts, I found them a lot better at holding up to landing primo so I bought up a bunch when they stopped
