Gillette WKND deck: 8.25 It has a squarish tale and nose, which is kind of neat.

Huf Classics in canvas and Gillettes.

SML wheels, size 53MM

Post a pic? My 8.25 WKND isn't particularly squarish but it's from an older run so maybe they changed shapes?

nice setup. I'm tempted to try Ace or Krux next and a lot of it has to do with the way they look. also, that red curb is gorgeous.

I personally prefer Krux over Ace.  Krux skate great as soon as you set them up.  No need to break them in or anything.

It's hard to tell in the pic but the curb was actually pretty rough and I could barely slide on it but the Krux grinded like butter across it

I switched over to krux the other day - they grind so fucking good.

They don't.

According to my experiences they are wobbly and unstable in the center and then just stop turning deeper at some point all of a sudden. Impossible to get wheelbite even with 54 mm wheels. Not a fan at all personally. Only tried stock bushings and Bones mediums with them though. Dunno if you could get them to be decent with some other bushings.

My go to is Indys with Bones hards and on my cruiser right now I have Aces with stock bottom and Bones medium top. That works out nicely for me also.

How do Krux turn compared to Ace?

They're two very different trucks -

Krux - I find to be the most stable trucks with the exception of Theeve.  Less wheelbite than any truck I've ever had.  They're lighter and have more kingpin clearance than Ace.  Stock bushings are perfect right out of the box.  The turn is similar to older stage Indys.  Every pair of Krux I've seen have perfect casting, centered axles, etc.  Quality is top notch.

Ace - Turn better than any truck after you change out the stock bushings.  A lot of people use Krux bushings in Ace to get them to turn.  Lots of wheelbite, super heavy, quality control issues

Both use softer chinese aluminum.  The grind is unbelievably smooth but they wear down faster than the Ermico trucks

Some really nice boards on this page. Steve's WKND board, and YD's Passport. Awesome.

I finally got to set this Habitat Josh Matthews up and couldn't be any more hyped they are again using BBS for some of their production. This 8.25 in particular is one of my favorite shapes they've used.

Habitat Josh Matthews 8.25 (with a funky wood grain embossing on the bottom ply)
Thunder 149 Ti
Wayward Chewy 52 (Art Hellman wasn't lying, Wayward is making some really nice stuff)

Oddly enough I found this set randomly at Grizzly Grip online's store. I don't know if Grizzly is an official distro of Wayward Wheels. I grabbed them over Fourth of July when they were doing Free Shipping. I also just saw Active is currently stocking Wayward. I can't make heads or tails where Wayward's stuff is actually coming from tho, US or abroad.

You might like the 8.5 x 32 baker shape then.  It also has a 14.5" WB.  The B16 has a 14.25" WB

Who uses better aluminum? I know Indy and Thunder are both essentially made in china but are put together in the USA.

From what I understand the hangars and cast baseplates are made at ermico, but the nuts and washers are imported. I don't know about kingpins, axles and bushings, but I'm sure it's way cheaper to import them too. They couldn't claim "made in the USA" because of the imported parts.

It actually doesn't feel that big, the short length and wheelbase help make it feel like a smaller board.

Toy Machine Ed Templeton 8.25"
Indy Stage 11 149s with Bones hards
Spitfire Formula Four 101 duro 54 mm classic shape
Bronson G3s
Random grip & bolts
Lakai Guymars

Pretty much all "old" stuff I've gotten on sale, but I couldn't care less if it's new or old. Works nicely and is cheap.  :)

Board is a lot shorter than my previous one. Only thing that it seems to have affected for some reason are my nollies. Just gotta get used to the new shape I guess.
