These are my first pair of Thunders in my 14 years of skating, I don't know why it has taken me so long but they are fucking amazing. Will never go back to ventures or indy.
[close]

After going through truck madness for a year and trying like 4 or 5 different trucks I also settled on those exact 149s. They're so good! I haven't even switched out bushings. Perfect turning and balance
I know how you guys feel. I skated Indies fanatically for 20 years or so. About 2 years ago a homie talked me into trying a set of Thunders. I started my normal break in routine and about halfway through the first session I realized I'd only adjusted the kingpin nut 2 or 3 times and was done. If it wasn't for the difference in how natural/crisp the turns are and how light they felt, I would have forgotten I had new trucks from a different company.
Nothing grinds chunky ass concrete like Indies, but I don't skate that kind of stuff much these days and I'm definitely a Thunder whore for good now.

Toy Machine 8.25
Thunder 149
Bronson G2s
OJ Insanathane EZ Edge 52mm
Modus risers & hardware

Emerica Wino g6

These are my first pair of Thunders in my 14 years of skating, I don't know why it has taken me so long but they are fucking amazing. Will never go back to ventures or indy.

Their redesigned 149s are the first trucks I've ever had that honestly felt good on the first session.

How do you like the Wino's? Think I'm about to get a pair.

They’re super comfortable and the g6 insole is amazing, but they are super thin so they rip pretty fast. If you’re into thin vulcs and don’t mind using a bit of super glue you will love these.

For the price point, these are light years ahead of the Romero laced

Word, I can dig that. I'm a huge Emerica guy but I kinda went on a Vans kick for the past year. The burgundy Winos have caught my eye though. :D

How are the Krux? Have heard good things about them (from the few with the courage to stray from the big 3) but never seen them in a shop to try.

For some reason, I keep going back to my 8.38 Polar that's over a year old at this point. I'm having way better pop than I have on my 8.5 and I'm not sure why. According to the Polar website, their 8.5s (and 8.25s, for that matter) have a 6.75in tail but their 8.38s have a 6.625 tail. In addition, I have standard Indy 149s on the old board and Ace 44s, which are 2mm lower, on the new one. Are either of these big enough of a difference to be noticeable? Is it a combination of the two? It hasn't been psyching me out at all but it's just been something I've noticed. If anything, I'm really hoping it's the difference in tail length because I'm really liking these Aces.

Am I doomed to riding the exact same setup for eternity? Has SLAP subconsciously ruined me?

EDIT: my 1818th post, maybe it's time for an Anti Hero board next?

I am liking them a lot. I ride my trucks pretty loose and these still have control to them. I used to ride ace's only but after a loose Kingpin (would rattle around the base plate) and cracked hanger I figured I would give another brand a try.

if you’ve found what works for you, run with it as long as you can; many of us old farts spend years pining over that one board/ one set of trucks we rode back in the day and never find a suitable replacement.

I was on the shaped board trip for a while but my deck felt really heavy/ clumsy last time I went for a roll so now I have a fresh northern co in the mail. I hope it lives up to the slap hype

The hype is real. This board feels a little heavy compared to my last Alien, but they're snappy and feel crisp for a long time.

Last one of these (stoked they re-did this series), and the last 8.25 for a while.

I ride it extremely loose with top bushing cut in half. Feels really surfy and slow turning. Feels funny slappying and grinding things there is so much room! The wheels stick out a bit so flip tricks takes getting used to. Might put these trucks on a Tony Hawk reissue will fit perfect and put 159s

SoCal skateshop has em cheapest but they don’t always have them. Jeremy klein website has them but will be alittle pricier.

I’m have a pink one myself, with rails just because I think the look cool. I use to watch Nickelodeon sk8tv when I started skateboarding.

Anyway they have a bunch here

Although I’ve never bought that from that site

Boardslide hurricanes and that Ryan Townley trick where you slide on one rail.  And I feel it prevents my fat ass from breaking the board.

as for slider railz, no more need for wax and they make your board flip faster as well, I like having an extra setup with em

Rails feel amazing on ramps. Never stick on slides and less chance of hanging up on coping.
