Hell Yeah! Mine came in the mail today also and I plan to set it up nearly identically to yours (got a few other boards to get through). Such a sick shape. Enjoy.

Looks sick!!
How are the 151s on the wider board?

They feel good, I was scared of having overhang. Axles are flush with the deck in the rear. I'm running 2 washers on the sides of the wheels.

If I did it all over again for this deck I would get 9" trucks.

And yeah 1/8" risers.

Ok

It’s a tricky one: 151s vs 161s, and the wider boards. I see lots of people (in footage) run the 159s lately (sidenote that’s the best Indy truck imo) when it seems like their set up would have 169s instead. 169s are pretty ....stable. Anyways, thanks for the response, setup looks hella fun.

8.375 $lave Pat Burke
Ace 44 Classics (Swapped out the stock bushing washers with Independent)
55mm 99DU Spitfire Formula Four Andrew Allen
Bones Big Balls
1" Shorty's Silverados
Mob

Etnies Ryan Lay Jameson HT 10.5

Skated this through the city a couple of weeks ago and it was a lot of fun. I have some Ace 44s on my cruiser, but I don't skate that board all that much, so this was my first time really "skating" Ace and I was very pleased. As many have said, the turn is something all its own and very pleasing after you get used to it. I had to do quite a bit of leg work to obtain the Spitfire AA wheels, but they are everything I hoped they would be. This is my first 8.375 board, as I have been skating mostly 8.125 and 8.25, but the bit of extra room is nice.

This is the setup i put together for my nephew's birthday coming up in a few days.

toy machine 8.25 (shape looks nice kinda quasi'ish wide nose)
jessup
venture 5.6
52mm f4 lock-ins (99a)
Bronson g3 (his request and honestly, theyre not bad)
shortys hardware

I'd be pretty excited to get this set up for 14th birthday, he's a cool kid and is real fun to skate with so i'm hyped

*edit: forgot, I'm going to swap his bushings for some medium bones as well. i need to stop by the shop to pick up a box to ship it in anyways

Baker 8.625
159
F4 Conical Full 56mm 99a

Considering getting 151’s, but I’ve never ridden a pair so I’m weary as I don’t normally like Thunder.

edit: Can't work out how to resize, I recall seeing you can add some text to the link to shrink the pic, can someone remind me please?
[close]

I was just riding this same set up size wise with the exception of board being the beige eagle Anti-Hero 8.62 and it was such a fun set up! Only flaw IMO is flipping it is real slow and takes A lot of extra flick with that toe to get a nice boned out kickflip but other than that felt incredibly stable when hitting ledges and Hubba’s and rail spots and a obvious given on being amazing for tranny! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Overall super fun set up here!
I’m envious . I loved the last baker deck I had so I wanted this one but the local nvr got this in . Stoked on 8.6

I like them. I mean, they're not F4's but I haven't flat spotted them yet. I haven't ridden a set of wheels this small since the 90's, so I was afraid they were going to be hard to get use to. However, that wasn't the case. No rocks took me out. They ride great. The only negative I would say about skating wheels that small is I have to push a lot more than I normally would. Mind you, I have Bones Swiss Ceramics in them too but I'm thinking that's going to be any wheel that small. Other than that, they make a good wheel and I would buy another set.

New deck, shop didn't get Painted AVE so I had to settle for Chrome Daddy Dill.

FA 8.25" x 31.79" Jason Dill Class Photo Chrome with 14.12" WB
Indy 144 Hollows with Bones Medium Bushings
Bones STF 99a Easy Streets
Bones Super Reds
MOB

The paint really doesn't last long but that's normal for FA I guess.

Just set up my brother’s first board. Finally got him to get into skating at age 23.

Deck: Theories 8.5” x 32.25” x 14.5”
Grip: MOB
Trucks: Independent Stage 11 Standard 149
Wheels: 92a/54mm Ricta Clouds
Bearings: Bones Reds Big Balls
Hardware: Diamond 7/8 Allen (Boo’s Colorway)

I’m digging the shape of this deck. It’s quite similar to the shape of my 8.0” Quasi but with a longer wheelbase and obviously wider.  These Clouds seem perfect for a beginner, especially in the crusty Midwest.

That graphic is sick.

What wood is FA?
I've only had one, which was over a year ago now, but it maintained crisp pop longer than any other board I've had.

FA isn’t a woodshop.  They use either PS Stix or BBS wood like most companies do however they tend to use PS more. BBS generally lasts longer however PS usually offers more unique shapes and a lot of us like how they pop. PS tends to go soggy fairly quick though.

It used to be PSstix, but they currently use BBS. If you like PS better, check out the Quasi Proto One (8.25") or Two (8.5"). They're the same exact shape.

Do FAs taper like the Quasi Proto?  Those have 8” tails.  All Quasi 8.25 x 32.125s have that same shape but their 8.25 x 32.375s are more rounded (which I personally prefer).  I’ve found the Quasi 8.125s to be the most FA like. Super squared and short (31.75 and 14.125 WB).

Looks fun. What are the dimensions of the deck and do you really find risers necessary with 54s and Ace 44s?  I figured 54s would be fine without them on Aces.

Good to know. I’ve always been a Thunder/Venture guy so I’ve stuck with 52mm wheels, 2-3 fingers of flat between tails and 14-14.25” wheelbase (usually 14.25).  I just setup a board with like 1.5 fingers of flat and a 14.5” wheelbase with Indy standards and 54mm wheels for my beginner brother and I’m digging the way it turns so I’ve been considering Aces and Indies a lot more lately. I was thinking of stepping up to 8.25-8.375 and the Indy Standards are a bit too high for me so I was thinking Ace 44s would be perfect.

Maybe I’ll setup a Polar 8.375 x 32 x 14.5 with some Ace 44s and 53s instead of 54s. I know I’ll be fine without risers then. Not that risers bother me, I just know I’ll like the dimensions better.  Going from Thunders to Standard Indies or Aces with risers is just too big of a height difference for me.

Thanks.

I have ridden Ace 44's with 58s with no wheelbite problems, even skated loose. 60mm was even manageable.

Aces go better with 54 mm wheels than Indys do despite Indys being higher. It's all about the geometry.

Also the Polar 8.375" has a 14.375" wheelbase despite Polar stating on their site and on the board that it's 14.5". Same goes for their 8.5" and apparently the 9.0" and P9 shape as well and possibly others too.

That setup looks clean, I like it.

I also ride 1/8 under my aces on 54s the pop just feels nicer with the aces being a bit taller.

The paint really doesn't last long but that's normal for FA I guess.

Yeah something with the nanotubes in the PS wood. lately it has been off.
