I agree with this. The deck seems a bit thicker than a BBS deck, but it has a crazy snap to it. It is hard to describe. It is very stiff and snappy, but does not feel unduly rigid like - in my opinion - Resin 7 decks do. It is a very natural and responsive wood feeling, just insanely poppy. We will see how long it lasts. I am a relatively heavy guy, so my decks generally sog out with time.
This is all subjective obviously but South Central is really unique feeling wood, I wouldn't really describe it as stiff though... or at least not hard stiff like r7/impact decks. To me it has kind of a soft, floaty feel and the sound is deceptively quiet. I'm used to really poppy decks having kind of a sharp whip cracking noise, but its more of a thump with sc. The first time I set one up I snapped the tail against the ground a few times and the sound made me think it was going to be soggy and it caught me off guard when I actually popped it and the shit stuck to my feet so hard I felt like it pushed me 6 inches in the air.
It's definitely thicker and heavier than a lot of other wood but not in a way that detracts from pop if that makes sense. It's like it's got some natural rebound or springiness to it and it just flings itself in the air, chills for a minute, then floats down. I don't think I've ever really had an uncomfortable landing on it. Shits pretty indestructible too, I've ending up giving a couple away just because I wanted to try something new and they were nowhere near the end of their life span. I probably could have kept riding them for months. I don't break boards so no idea how it holds up in that department but I swear they use some kind of weird bottom veneer thats thicker or beveled differently or something that keeps it from razor tailing as fast.
Clutch wood has a somewhat similar, but harder feeling to it but nothing else really feels like SC to me. One of my favorite wood shops for sure.
