Those numerals are not in reference to it's place in the mold, but the mold itself. The numbers distinguish the steepness/concavity from my understanding. But, the place in the stack does affect the measurements and I believe that's what is happening in this example.
[close]

Sorry, but you're wrong on that one. It's been confirmed by DLX that the numerals represent where in the stack of boards in the press each deck is.

Oh wow alright my bad. Totally thought it was just a reference to general concavity. Like iv had the most, i the least  but that there were more in the stack than just four. My apologies for sounding like know it all. I guess I just misread it before.

Also want to say how good those 6.1s look, particularly with the 50mm wheels.

Right, I think "I" is on the bottom (mellower) and "V" the top (steeper)?
[close]

backwards.

"I" is on the top (steeper) and "V" the bottom (mellower).

I have two of the same deck - one is I and one is IV.  The difference is marginal.   After skating both, I now no longer care where on the stack it came from.  It's just not enough of a difference for me to pay attention to.

I've noticed that with bbs decks there isn't all that much of a difference between the top and bottom of the stack. Some other woodshops though, it's really noticeable, to the point that if you told me they were from the same mold I would have my doubts. I'll see if I can dig up some pics of the more egregious ones I've had, but off the top of my head the two that were most noticeable were a PS scumco deck (8.25 Downey I think) and just recently I got two south central E molds with one being similar to the others I have and the other being super flat and mellow.

I actually kinda like the variation since sometimes I'll find a shape that's just a hair too steep or mellow but I understand why people want consistent shapes too. At any rate it is (or at least was) enough of an issue that when Mullen set up his dream shop in China he made it a point to use single deck pressing to eliminate the problem.

Congratulations on finally getting your board Senor Complimentes, looks very nice. Is that one of the rare Pennswood decks with a 14.25 wb? If so then I had a very similar one that I really liked aces on.

Also is that model the one that was like 31.5" long?

Nice. Swore off baker for a long time after baker 3 era but their boards have came a long way since the penis shaped days. This 8.5 solidified for me that my last 8.38 is my go to.

It's been freezing and/or raining for what seems like weeks straight and I don't think I've had back to back good weather days in months. So I've basically been setting boards up just to stave off boredom. I have another two already set up and ready to go after this one.

I already have this deck in 8.12 and love it, but its a little small for me sometimes so I decided to say fuck it and break this one out (now I have to buy another one to keep my set intact) and I'm so glad I did. This is one of the best feeling decks I've skated, so between it and the Team 8.25 ScumCo's first line on PS wood has two (3 if you count the 8.12) of my favorite decks ever.

Yes, av rapidweld pro lite to be precise.

https://shop.ccs.com/vans-av-rapidweld-pro-lite-shoes

I think they're basically the predecessor of the AVE pro, but not quite as high tech. I got them for $25 on poshmark and they're pretty good. Super light and I love the flick but other than that ultracush insole they don't have much padding and on one shoe the spot where the toe cap is fused to the upper has this weird seam that pokes the top of your toes. I have to tape a piece of foam to my sock in that spot to wear them, but other than that they're great.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments, it really is one of my favorite setups so I'm glad other people dig it too. A friendly reminder if anyone decides to grab one of those decks, the 8.12 is quite short - 31.13" tip to tip. Its a similar size to a few of the quasi 8.12 boards I checked out in the shop but the shape is a little different. I have nerd notes and measurements on all the decks in the broadcast series so shoot me a pm if you want more info or pics on any of them.

Am drooling over the Kevin Taylor model in that series, is there and 8.25 version and if so what’s the wheelbase like? Are they all on pennswood or are they mixing woodshops again?

Do you know if the Ty Beall deck and the kevin taylor one are of the same shape? I see that they're both marked "deep concave" on the site.

Awesome setup by the way.

My local shop got some in the other day, they're now pressed by PS Stix and the 8.25 Kevin Taylor board has a steeper concave. Not sure about the wheelbase though.

so i skated a very mellow 8.5 deck with 14.75 wheelbase and loved the pop feel with aces, its hard to find that wheelbase where im from , will 14.5 feel too different? is there a way to replicate that feeling without changing my trucks?

I think he might have a custom shape with a 14.1 or 14.2 wheelbase. I think they make one graphic a season on it.

Could be wrong though
