My two Colony decks took over 9 months to reach Japan but there's no warping at all (must be very well made!), just a few dings and scratches on the edges. I always wanted to try a truly Made In The USA deck and these are my first. Never expected them to arrive, not sure where they've been sitting for so long... I tried my Ventures on this deck but it was wheel bite city (even with Bones Bushings) and just felt horribly off.
I really like the new 100% China Indys! (as if they or anything else made at Ermico hasn't been mostly made from Chinese sourced alloys and materials for years...) Sorry to upset some people, trust me, I don't like their marketing slogans or branding but I do like them for the intended purpose to make my skateboard turn well. Plus they're always available and affordable at my local shop unlike DLX who jacked up prices (a lot!) and left us high and dry for almost a year regarding Thunders so Indy is gaining in popularity here very fast! The casting on these is cleaner, the forging on the baseplates is done by hand (quite a skill) and not done by machine like the older ones or like Thunder/Venture forged baseplates (also made in China). Not a feature necessarily, I was just impressed to see hand forged baseplates. The new stock bushings feel broken in within an hour or two, I can set them and forget them. No future adjusting needed and no air bubbles or defects in them. The axles are perfectly centered and there's no aluminum spillage on them at all. I really have no complaints about them so far.
The Spitfires are ugly, buy hey, it's the first ones in my size DLX has graced our shop with in over a year. So I'll just live with that since I was dumb enough to spend around $80 US on them. They are noticeably faster than the SMLs I've been riding so at least there's that...
I've been riding this board for a few days and am really enjoying it, although it's a bit heavy. The shape and taper of the nose and tail feels like a Hook-Ups 8.25" x 31.75" deck which I ride a lot of and really like. Concave is more steep though. I wrinkled my sheet of Mob I was putting on it so I tore it off and put some Iron Horse on which goes down super easily but isn't as grippy and doesn't last as long, still good grip though.
Edit: I should clarify that the entire Indy baseplate isnt hand forged. The corners have just enough of a slight imperfection and you can tell it was stuck with a tool and not 100% shaped by a die. This is no sweatshop truck as Ive seen some say. Although Im sure plenty of sweat goes into making them.
