I bought a pack of those Bones Big Ball Bearings and they all died on me within a month. Fucking sucked. Curious to know if you will have the same problem.
[close]
I’ve been skating them for six months now and they’re fine. I cleaned them not too long ago and had a couple with cracked cages. They seemed faster than Reds, so I’d say they were worth spending $24 on them
[close]
I won a set from Skate One when they first came out.  In my experience, they felt sluggish after just a few weeks.  I actually just bought a second set of Mini-Logo bearings because I like them better.
[close]

In my experience Mini-logo have been better than reds, race reds, indy black, and bronson. They're good ass bearings.

I’ve had the exact same experience.  How can the cheapest ones also be the best?  Don’t make no sense.

• Colony Skateboards • Salt Mine Deck • 8.25" x 31.75" • 14.25" WB • South Central • Half a finger of flat on the tail, none on the nose.
• Iron Horse Griptape
• Independent "Chindy" Titanium 144 Trucks • Stock Bushings • Riptide Pivot Cups
• Spitfire "Uggo Gray" Formula Fours • 99A • 54mm • Radial Shape
• Bones Race Reds Bearings
• Shorty's Silverado 7/8" Allen Hardware

My two Colony decks took over 9 months to reach Japan but there's no warping at all (must be very well made!), just a few dings and scratches on the edges. I always wanted to try a truly Made In The USA deck and these are my first. Never expected them to arrive, not sure where they've been sitting for so long... I tried my Ventures on this deck but it was wheel bite city (even with Bones Bushings) and just felt horribly off.

I really like the new 100% China Indys! (as if they or anything else made at Ermico hasn't been mostly made from Chinese sourced alloys and materials for years...) Sorry to upset some people, trust me, I don't like their marketing slogans or branding but I do like them for the intended purpose to make my skateboard turn well. Plus they're always available and affordable at my local shop unlike DLX who jacked up prices (a lot!) and left us high and dry for almost a year regarding Thunders so Indy is gaining in popularity here very fast! The casting on these is cleaner, the forging on the baseplates is done by hand (quite a skill) and not done by machine like the older ones or like Thunder/Venture forged baseplates (also made in China). Not a feature necessarily, I was just impressed to see hand forged baseplates. The new stock bushings feel broken in within an hour or two, I can set them and forget them. No future adjusting needed and no air bubbles or defects in them. The axles are perfectly centered and there's no aluminum spillage on them at all. I really have no complaints about them so far.

The Spitfires are ugly, buy hey, it's the first ones in my size DLX has graced our shop with in over a year. So I'll just live with that since I was dumb enough to spend around $80 US on them. They are noticeably faster than the SMLs I've been riding so at least there's that...

I've been riding this board for a few days and am really enjoying it, although it's a bit heavy. The shape and taper of the nose and tail feels like a Hook-Ups 8.25" x 31.75" deck which I ride a lot of and really like. Concave is more steep though. I wrinkled my sheet of Mob I was putting on it so I tore it off and put some Iron Horse on which goes down super easily but isn't as grippy and doesn't last as long, still good grip though.

Edit: I should clarify that the entire Indy baseplate isn’t hand forged. The corners have just enough of a slight imperfection and you can tell it was stuck with a tool and not 100% shaped by a die. This is no “sweatshop” truck as I’ve seen some say. Although I’m sure plenty of sweat goes into making them.

@thelonelynow Wow! That setup has me reevaluating my taste in board graphics and backdrop for future boards I photo of. Looks fantastic! Surprisingly, those gray wheels do not look as ugly on the board as I thought they would.

I, like many others on here take a photo each time I set up a new deck and/or trucks. A personal way of chronicling the gear I've had, when, and for how long, etc.

Nice work! I hope the gear lasts and skates well for the time/money/hassle spent to get it. :]

Thanks for the kind words! I enjoy looking back at my setups over the years as well! It was a coincidence I got this deck right after the wheels. I don’t think they would have looked as good on anything else I had. They don’t look too bad after being skated though. The gray just sort of hides the dirt of the roads around my home. Have a great day and I hope you enjoi your next setup too!

Finally after an year without buying any skate stuff I managed to buy a new deck
Primitive 8.25
Thunder 148 team hollow
Bones STFs easy streets 54mm
Skatedeluxe everything else
Bearings
Grip
Allen bolts
92a barrel bushings

I think I'mma stick to 14 inches wb, cause tricks feels natural and the board doesn't feel heavy at all. Another thing I switched from aces and spitfire...I think I'mma stick to thunder and bones stf...f4 are overall better but they are a little bit slower and they wear out quicker, for the trucks well I'm a thunder guy. They feel like home probably never gonna switch again.

This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

8.25x31.875 (14.3"WB) Polar
5.6 Venture TI with Ti axle/kingpin nuts
Bones Meds
51ish Spit 101 Radial Slims w/Spitfire classics bearings (too lazy to swap out the swiss for right now)
Mix of grip based on scraps (lazy)
Thunder bolts

It's a very comfortable ride - did a lot of gear-madness switching and this combo felt the best (even with the longer than I wanted WB+Ventures).

Select that icon with mona lisa on it, it’ll give you those img brackets and then simply just post your link between those brackets.

Read from several posts that their listed 14.125 WB is a true 14.3 since Polar measures it from edge of mounting hole to edge instead of middle to middle.

Great, my gear madness really needed another factor!

I bought it specifically for the WB dimensions coupled with the wheel wells and sadly it's no an 8.125" as advertised. I'm still going to skate it as this WB used to be my go to if I could find it; If anything I'll swap out the Ventures with  Theeves or something to pull the WB in a little as I've always done on 14.3x wbs.

If it's any reassurance to you, I skated this shape twice on Thunders not knowing it was actually 14.3 and I had no issues (wb usually drives me crazy if I think it's too long). I wouldn't have touched it if it were labeled 14.3, so it's almost as if it's all in my head...

8.25x31.875 (14.3"WB) Polar
5.6 Venture TI with Ti axle/kingpin nuts
Bones Meds
51ish Spit 101 Radial Slims w/Spitfire classics bearings (too lazy to swap out the swiss for right now)
Mix of grip based on scraps (lazy)
Thunder bolts

It's a very comfortable ride - did a lot of gear-madness switching and this combo felt the best (even with the longer than I wanted WB+Ventures).

I didn't know Polar made an 8.25 with a 14.3 wb, thought they were all 14.125. Nice looking setup though.

Read from several posts that their listed 14.125 WB is a true 14.3 since Polar measures it from edge of mounting hole to edge instead of middle to middle.

I've also read that the polar 8.37 and 8.5 shape are actually more of a 14.37 wheelbase as opposed to 14.5 which would mean they're measuring those decks differently to how they measure the 8.25. So confused now lol. I actually wanted to try a polar 8.25 but was a bit scared the kicks would be one the smaller side but now just concerned about the misleading wheelbase.

So confused now lol. I actually wanted to try a polar 8.25 but was a bit scared the kicks would be one the smaller side but now just concerned about the misleading wheelbase.

Today I measured the wheelbase on a 8.38 from the latest release, it measured 367mm center - center of mounting hole. That's exactly the same as my 8.5 krooked that's supposed to have a 14.38 inch wheelbase
