Okay so, I wanted to give the HLC wood a chance.
The specs were right up my alley, this is a Cafe deck.

8.125 × 31.75 with a 14.25 wb

Coming of a tweaked ankle, I was just on curbs and flat today. First session after 5 weeks and I had a blast for 2 hours and then..

I landed a heelflip with a bit too much weight on my back foot. I was truly shocked. A broken deck after just 2 hours is even for me really fast.

I will give this deck to my parents so they have firewood for the winter.

I think HLC is my favorite wood manufacturer.  the boards do feel a little "flexy" but have great pop, and hold it well. also the mellow concaves still have enough kick and concave to not be unfunctional for ollies etc....

i usually think if i break a board that means i went all in to land and the board was actually really good.

-Anti Hero Beres 8.28" x 14.125" WB, regular Jessup
-Ace 1" phillips hardware
-Ace 44 Classics, no top washer and Riptide pivot cups
-Loophole 52mm, worn down to about 50mm now
Bones Swiss, no shields

Shortest wheelbase I've ever tried, came down from 14.25" and I love it. Shorter wheelbase on Ace's = turn, turn, and more turn.

the funnest! Although nollie tricks might not work the best due to small nose. Still though it’s the coolest shape I’ve skate in a long time

The nose is a bit short so it isn’t my daily driver but it’s super fun for slappys

One of the guys I skate with ALWAYS breaks boards just like this. No matter what brand. After someone on here mention about over tightening the hardware causing boards to break I can see that's true and why he brakes all his boards. lol Watching him set a new board up always gives me anxiety! Lol He cranks that screwdriver down. Looking at your photo kinda makes me think the hardware was too tight too?

I am cautious that my hardware is only flush with the deck and not deeper. I use the Indy bolts, since they have a bigger head. Maybe that's not so good?

And I was wondering, if there might be a sharp edge on my trucks, which causes that. But I just checked my trucks and couldn't see anything.

If I had a great session and broke my board I’d be really happy.
If I was just skating around and did a shitty Ollie where I shifted all my weight to the nose and broke a board I would not tell anyone.
I’ve pretty much only broken a couple boards.
I buy the ones that don’t break, I can tell when I pick them up.

Polar 8.25 x 31.875 (14.125” wheelbase)
Ace classics 44’s with Riptides
Spitfire conical full 97a 54’s
Bearings
Hardware
Mob (and also clear grip from another popular brand...)

First time doing anything remotely interesting with my griptape.  Feeling good about how it turned out.  I have the surf jr shape of this deck on ice too.  Planning to set that up with some Ace 55’s and bigger wheels to mess around on.

Well I really liked the shape and the specs of that deck and I was legit shocked/bummed that I broke it the first session. Must be over a decade, that I broke a board that quick.

8" with Venture lows is fun but not practical. Set up this as my new main ride:

AWS 8.75
Independent 159
Ace 1/16" shock pads
97a Conical Full 56mm F4

Was skating this shape in 8.5" for a while and it feels good to be back on it.

thoughts on the shock pads? like this set up, inverted kp/baseplate too with the 159?

I like shock pads, the Ace ones are nice and thin but don't deform. I can see how some people hate them, but as an older skater with crusty spots I am down.

The 159s are standard that I modded myself with a Kreper KP and JB weld. I also modded a set of 55s at the same time, but the Indy's took the mod better due to the deeper baseplate cavity. More fuel for my inner war between Indy and Ace.

Are you fucking serious?  WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?  If you have something to say to me, just say it.  Are you in love with me or something?  Because it sure seems like it my guy.  If you want to copy me so bad, you can have a perfect imprint of my knuckles on your greasy forehead.  I promise you that, playboy.

I’m trying to post my setup on a silly message board, not get e-stalked by some fucking weirdo with a fucked up slap name.

I know there is some history with the BFRD and SS set up clones but can someone point me to the page where it first happened? My theory is that they are IRL friends who are fucking with us. I mean it has to be right?

Great, not only do I have mystery e-stalker that is somehow surveilling me in my home, but you guys think we’re fucking buddies.  Now I gotta spend the night in a hotel while I come up with a plan to get my privacy back.  I really don’t see the humor in any of this.
