Haha my toes are fine. Something about the angle makes my shoes look like a shrek.

Nice ride! Workshop graphics like that give me so much nostalgia... That was what the deck wall looked like in my local when I was 18! So sick.

Thanks! The shape is great too. Full, steepish nose and tapered tail. I always find these on sale one place or another so I might stick with Alien for a bit

What's your shoe size? I feel like so many people just skate 8+" because everyone else is. It makes more sense if you have large feet or are tall. Generally speaking, shouldn't deck width and length loosely correlate with a rider's shoe size and height?

Yep I feel the same. I started skating again a few years ago after being off the board for 10 years and went with an 8.5 since that’s what everyone was doing. Granted I’m not flipping my board really mostly just ledge and curb skating so depends what kind of skating you do I guess.

I’m definitely a smaller dude. 5’5” with a 7.5 size foot. I’m sure a 7.75 for me feels like a 8.25 to the average sized male though

Eh, I don't really agree with this sentiment. Most of the people I know that I skate with consistently are average height (say 5'9 to 6ft), average shoe size (UK8/9 which I think is US9/10) and in that spectrum it's anywhere from 8.1 up to 8.75.

I'm 5'10, UK7.5/8 or US 8.5/9 and in the last 5 years I've skated from 8.25 to 8.75, settled on 8.5 for a few years, then went back to 8.38 and now 8.25. Since I started skating again (2013) I've found 8.25 to be the most common size which makes sense; more stability than a skinnier board, will still flip with relative ease.

The only guy I've known to skate a smaller board in the last 7/8 years was a guy who was about 5'8 with I think about a US 6/6.5 shoe size, and he was skating 7.75's, but then on the flip side I know a guy who's much shorter at maybe 5'5/5'6 with a slightly bigger shoe size of US 8 and he skates 8.5s.

For me personally, coming back after a good few months not skating due to lockdowns etc, I found it very hard to flip around an 8.6 with 56 wheels, so I tapered down and ended up at 8.25 with 54's. I kinda want to size down even more, but going from 149's to Venture 5.6 which isn't that much of a difference in axle width, still fucked me up on grinds for a good month, and I feel like I'd notice it abhorrently more with a smaller truck.

I'd never go above 8"

14wb is my sweet spot also

Just grabbed a Polar Surf Junior definitely the biggest board I’ve ever owned. Lots of fun only skate it once so far, I’m noticing I prefer bigger boards for flip tricks cause there’s more space for me to catch the board 🤷‍♂️ Shuv variations are a lil weird with the giant tail tho

I wasn’t able to find a definitive answer before, but is the surf jr the same as the original surf shape (8.75 at the widest point with a 14.375 wb)? There’s a 9.0 surf shape out now so wasn’t sure if they just renamed the old one as jr.

Yeah the surf Junior is the 8.75 and the surf is a 9

52mm is small? i dunno, cannot really go beyond 52mm, because of constant wheel bites. peep the marks.
had 55mm wheels once and hated them because of that even though at that time my trucks were tighter.
