real 8.5 full se
venture hollow 5.8s
spits 97a classics 54mm
bronson raws
hardware i need to replace because ive fucked it up because my skate tool doesnt fit on the outer bolts because ventures.

vans crockett highs that i just got and don't think i can skate just yet because they're so pretty

never ridden a real, only cruised on this one last night but i've got high hopes for it. really like a quasi 8.5 but i'm hoping the bigger tail on this one does me well. am kinda off my ventures, am definitely taking recs for good curb and bowl skating trucks with this set up.
[close]

the quasi ransom note sticker job threw me off on this lol
also friendly hardware saving tip: take off the hanger when setting up the baseplate on ventures
[close]

It’s almost as if open ended wrenches don’t exist.
[close]

whoa, get a load of the wrench lobbyist itt
but seriously, i personally suck at keeping wrenches on while putting everything together. always have, always will.
I realize the way I phrased this was kind of dickish on my part so for that I apologize. I will say the thought of removing a hanger to set up a board out in the field gives me anxiety. Dropping a bushing and having it roll down a gutter can be a session stopper. Also a stripped kingpin nut (which is highly likely) can dead stop a session too. But as you said different strokes and I can get down with that.  :)

52mm is small? i dunno, cannot really go beyond 52mm, because of constant wheel bites. peep the marks.
had 55mm wheels once and hated them because of that even though at that time my trucks were tighter.

I just bought 53s for the first time in my life, never gone beyond a 51 before. Must admit im a little scared, they look huge, at least my deck is one of those polar ones with the wheel wells so i should be aight.

i skate 53-55mm wheels (often conical fulls) on a Polar 8.5 with wheel wells, with loose (but not Max Palmer loose) trucks and I rarely get any wheel bite

Epic. Pretty much what I rode late 90s to mid 2000s.  Maybe a smaller deck here and there....

traded out the love seat early because I was fiendin' to try the surf. Got the full Imp Sausage Metal set up.

This set up feels excellent. This is the experience I wanted from the love seat. I'll definitely be riding more surf jrs in the future.

Weirdly hit axle on my front truck first so decided to use that as an excuse for a Christmas complete :). The cleaver has a huuuuuge nose I'm excited about.
Old:
Orchard 8.75 eggy shape
Film 6.0 with krux dlk
Spitfire F4 conical 53mm 99a
Rockin rons

New:
Cleaver 8.38
Film 5.5 Leo Valls
Haze wheels 54mm 99a conical
Blurs bearings

How was the cleaver deck? I saw here it is listed in bbs woodshop section. Is the wood comparable to polar or the dlx brands? There are some boards on sale at skatedeluxe com, but i read a bad review saying it cracked and broke super fast. What was your experience with your deck?

Polar 8.25
Indy 144 stg 11 forged hollow
Bones stf 99a 54mm
Bones big balls
Indy bolts
Grizzly hrip

Im not sure that those wheels are 54mm, but thats what i was told. Got the setup used for 100€, but the trucks havent even been grinded. First ever bbs deck, first ever forged and hollow trucks and first ever bones wheels. Im not so hyped on the shape, the tail is too long for me but that could be because i suck and havent skated since 2018.

Blue top ply. I’m not a big believer in the red ply curse or a lot of other superstitious things. I have a couple reds in my stack and they look pretty good tbh
[close]

I’m a yellow top fan, I tend to stay away from the green and blue ones
I actually prefer red tops to probably any other color, especially if it's a nice deep cherry red. I have a red top/bottom DOA toe tag flat and it's gorgeous. Blue (actual blue, not teal) is another one I don't seem to come across that often but really like how they look. I'd probably say red/blue/yellow tops are the best looking ones, then orange/brown/black/green are slightly lower on my ranking but still good. Purple and natural I don't really like but will still skate.

Pink tops can go fuck themselves. It was OK for like the first one or two boards but they've become so prevalent that like 70% of the boards I bought online were fucking pink tops. I would be very happy if someone started a "no more pink" petition to send to all the woodshops.

haha I’m flattered with the name, you’re in for a tonne of fun!  Funny you mention the love seat because my other setup (currently a krooked Chico) is usually a love seat with films and 52 loopholes on it, it’s my “tech” board and I actually find they compliment each other nicely . The surf with the loopholes and aces though, man it puts such a huge smile on my face! Not sure if you know but the pass-port spade shape in 8.8 is nearly identical to the surf with a slightly rounder tail!

It’s extremely rare for me not to have a shaped deck, but money was tight and I needed a new rig so I did the unthinkable and bought a popsicle. Hence the writing.

9” No Comply shop deck on clutch wood (I know) 14.75” wb
Ace 55 classics
Spitfire lock ins 54mm 99a
Bones big balls
7/8th Allen bolts
Mob grip.

For the curious, it rides like a 9.25 egg, but it has a little bit more real estate over the trucks. It’s nice but I’m ready to get back to the way of the egg.
Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

@gsosa I’ve had a few bad experiences with clutch. Mainly their quality control, really inconsistent quality, warped, etc. I’ve snapped more clutch decks on the first sesh than any other woodshop.

@Seventyfuhkinseven meant it as a joke to say more real estate over the front trucks**

@Macho Taildrop traded them to me for a bag of magic beans.

Their 2 years old and he just happened to bless me.

They a fuckin’ rad with the Snack deck. The tail is rounder/wider than the nose by 2 mm or so. Really helps me keep my feet on the deck when I Ollie. Heavier than a BBS deck but nicer concave and kicks. Good deck for someone that doesn’t flip their board.

As always, Thom coming through with the HEAT

@Seventyfuhkinseven okay well that makes a lot more sense hahaha

It feels so weird to be in a pop but I understand why they’re industry standard. But I lose another excuse for not landing tricks. “I’m sure I’d be able to get that if I had a popsicle but I mean I just can’t do it.”

I’m running out of excuses and people are catching on that I just suck hahah
