I like how Fastbreaks feel but the ones with nylon or whatever wear super fast for me for some reason.

I just started to superglue the Ollie area on all the nylon pairs. End up lasting just as long as my all suede pairs.

8.4 Grimple Hewitt
worn 52mm F4 Classics
Swiss 6
Silverados
Royal 144 inverted hollow mid trucks
Griptape
Vans Half Cab skate

Shape is cool. It's a tad longer than the 8.5, same WB, same 8.3 width. It is a lot like the 8.25 BBS generic shape tons of companies use with slightly shorter kicks and flatter lateral concaves.

These Royals feel like they're built to grind and I'm glad I'm riding the best and can fuck the rest.

still got some life on my previous board, but I had all the parts and I want to see if the 5.6s work with an 8.0 or not before I order a set of Lurpivs.

Picture Show 8.0
Venture 5.6
Blind Jason Lee wheels

used board:

Theories 8.0
Venture 5.2, front truck ground to the axle and falling apart
Spit tablets 51 mm
[close]

never ventures coming with silver kingpins now?

Thunder and Venture had to source different kingpins due to the pandemic. They’re slightly shorter too. To make up for the shorter kingpins the heads are now recessed into the baseplate.

My street skating setup:

Real Reneal Doves 8.5 x 32.125, 14.375 WB
Ace AF1 55’s
Spitfire Classics 99a 54mm (worn to about 52 now)

I’m not sure if I like the shape that much. I prefer a long and wide nose/tail, on this deck they’re slightly tapered/sharp and a bit shorter. I think I’ll also go back to a 14.25 WB next time, to compensate for the weight of the Ace’s. I think it’ll give me a slightly snappier pop.

8.25/14.25 WB Quasi (BBS)
Ace AF-1 44
52MM/99D Spitfires
1” Phillips Shake Junt
Jessup Grip

This is my first complete I’ve setup myself in probably 15 years. I’ve been riding Landyachtz cruisers and longboards for the last few years. I was sweating doing the grip tape lol.

The Dane Barker decks are BBS, the rest are PS. There are rumors of a switch and dudes riding PROTOTYPE decks but nothing more than TM hearsay.

As far as I know this is a “prototype”. As others have said they might be switching woodshops but we will see.

So u set this bad boy up and proceeded to only do noseslides ? Loved that deck when i had it.

I’d love to see Quasi make the switch. Some of my favorite graphics in years but I just can not skate those short ass PS tails and they feel like wet logs after 2 weeks.

I don't want to shit in anyone's Cheerios either but Quasi Go To Hell egg I just got immediately felt like that. Had stress cracks after putting the fucking trucks on (no I didn't over tighten and I used risers too). I can't ollie on it to save my life. Fun surf shape which is what I bought it for anyways, but damn I couldn't skate a popsicle if it felt like that.

Can't fucking stand those band-aid shapes Quasi, FA, Hockey etc. use from PS Sticks. Saw that the new FA and Hockey boards are Bareback. That will improve the shapes they use (I hope) and cut down on the shitty QC.

FA/Hockey has been BBS for a bit.

But they do still have those band-aid, super big nose shapes. Takes some getting used to, but I do enjoy the steeper kicks in comparison to Quasi/PS kicks.

Ive always loved tapered/pointy decks, but my Hockey board was probably the best board I’ve ever had. I felt like it improved my skating because of that rectangular shape. My board wasn’t steep at all though, maybe the nose just a little bit

i find these shapes super easy to do kickflips on because of the extra width on the nose, but i do see what you mean there is no reason for the nose to be as big as it is.

Those big nosed F/A-Hockey shapes sell like a muthafucka. I have skated about 10 and the quality was top notch on all of them. They flip so good, but are definitely awkward to look down out

only so many brands that make the band aid shape, if you dont like em there are countless options to choose from.

nobody is forcing you to ride a shape you dont like, leave them for those who do
