Out of the game right now with a knee injury (doing good, hopefully I'll be back in a week or so more) and I've just been climbing the walls of my apartment. Decided to put together a therapy set up last night.

Polar Hjalte 91 jr
lupriv 149
spitfire raidal full 57s
quantum isotopes
bronze
jessup ultra

Very interested to see how the 91 jr skates. I really like the surf jr I had, and this seems like a good option for a similar shape with more nose.

Was a little unsure after not having a shaped deck for ages, but I'm loving my 91 jr. Really good fun and to be honest I've not really noticed too much difference to a popsicle as it has a pretty decent length nose etc.

spitfire f4 classics 56mm 97a
reds
diamond bolts
jessup grip
regular shelltoes

that last snack i had cracked in the middle in 2 sessions in a really weird way, like a kinda huge chip
on the bottom of the board. mad pressure cracks too,  even with thin rubber risers. i don’t recommend clutch wood. this one is a ps stix and it feels a lot better right off the bat and i like that shape more. it’s 31.7 after measuring and skates great, boards with short tails and large noses work for me. working at the skateshop got me actin crazy and i already have another deck on ice, a girl carroll 8.375. these worker discounts really hit different
[close]
Nice setup..I like long nose short tail too, how is that Carroll 8.3 shape?
[close]

@Seventyfuhkinseven tried to dm you but couldn't, i had to wait on the delivery for a little longer but it's here. tail is very short, skinny and pointy. nose is fuller but still round, not square at all but definitely a lot fuller than the tail. concave is mellow leaning into medium and the kicks are pretty mellow too. i can send you some pictures if you want, it's already gripped but i haven't set it up yet.
Hey thanks @roba I appreciate the feedback, that sounds perfect to me..I think I will try one out.

I really wish that carroll shape came in an 8”. Maybe I’ll just try one with 8” trucks, hella magic.
That tail is just sweet looking

8.28 mason deck
5.6 venture TI with riptides and supercush

Look at Mr Money Bags flexing his Venture TI trucks and Super Swiss 6 over here.....

JK

Venture 5.6 TI are such a good truck, would ride them more often if I could find a decks (14.125" WB and under) that pair better with the WB extension.
Such a good truck, I can totally justify the cost of those and the Swiss over the length of use. I love the ventures with the 14.1 dlx wheelbases but I didn’t see one in either the real or krooked catalogs so now I’m sweating

Hey man, rest up, but definitely get your PT game on as early and as strong as possible. A lot of knee injuries turn into longer term issues because shit atrophied and heals back wrong. Cycling for me is the number 1 thing to keep my knee feeling fresh. Strengthening the quads and hammies with lunges, squats, etc keeps it the most stable. And stretch shit out a few times a day.

Looks like I'll never get full flexion back because I never got my shit looked at pre Obama care... But the other stuff helps

Krooked 8.88
Thunder 149’s
Bones Swiss
NFG 95a’s

I’m glad I had the foresight to not give away any of the wider Thunders I had when I switched truck brands at the start of the pandemic. Tomorrow starts my 2.5 week work hiatus too. Stoked to skate more than just the weekends for the first time in months
[close]

Considering getting one of these, hoping that Indy 159s will fit on it, they’re only a tiny bit wider than thunder 149s so fingers crossed!

I am also thinking about this deck for Indy 159s.
You might have or measured the specs for tail and wheelbase?
@fs1/2cab 14.6ish. My back axle is around the 8.38 area on the tail. Front axle is around the 8.7 region

Ha yeah, they sure are!!!

I had to do a double take, first thinking they were cruiser wheels.

Reminds me of a "Tonka truck" type setup, but should be awesome to ride and those things would last so, so long.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

In time for my 1000 post I got my set of Pals stickers, s/o @PuffinMuffin  !

I took the occasion to sticker up my boards. Usually I only ride one set up but as I have received my Lurpivs recently I put them on an already retired deck in order to compare them to my Indies. Read all about it in the Lurpiv thread (post coming soon). Unfortunately I am not allowed to to actual sports for the moment so I can only push around and practice manuals.

Left:

Real Ishod Full 8.38 (but it is really 8.5)
Lurpiv 149 (stock)
1997 Spitfires ca. 53mm
Bronson G2s
Mob
Diamond 7/8

Right:

Deathwish Neen Twin Nose 8.5
Indy standard 144 w/ Bones HC hard bushings
Bones 100's ca. 48mm
Bones Swiss
Bones 1/8 risers
Miles
Diamond 1"

The "net wheelbase" i.e. bolthole to bolthole on both boards is identical but the Lurpivs make it visibly smaller.

why come?

Thanks man. Thankfully I got off easy, didn't lose any range of motion when I hurt it and I've been able to walk, so I expect a full recovery. Doing some homebrew PT for it though, lots of walks, squats, and stair climbing. Hopefully I'll push around some this week too.

Thanks man I know we're on a similar wave shape/set up wise. I saw you're skating 8.5 quasi proto (favorite) with 6.1s. I have 6.1s on a cruiser right now, but I thought about what it would be like on 8.5 shape. Any benefits?
[close]
can only speak on the 6.1 hollows
+ the only 52mm ventures with the regular cast wb (+3.25)
+ more stability and true landing surface on the deck
+ more room for grinds/can crosslock when needed
+ light and easy to flip around, classic venture pop feel
+ ran up to 56mm with no risers @200 lbs
+ im tall with huge feet so it feels right/necessary

my current setup has no limitations in street scenarios, would highly recommend. i can assume weight isnt an issue for you on raw 5.8s, so if you have cast 6.1 hangars and forged plates you can get a similar taste @360ish grams

I really like the 5.8 with 58 mm on a 8.5 x 32.125 x 14.25 but I'm thinking down the line I might have to give it a try. Also, reading your response gives me the impression you're both much smarter than me and much better at skating than I am.

For me the P9 was no good I think it was the shape rather than dimensions. It's deceptively wider by the front trucks than the rear and I think it was the weight distribution I had a hard time adjusting to. Just my 2 cents though. I'd like to try the 91 looks solid.

i "nerd" out on measurements when im off my board
6.1s deserve more praise/hype
sadly im not getting paid to market for venture but the WBSWB crowd should be all over these
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I feel you on the taper. If you didn't like like the P9 you might not like the 91jr. also. They don't differ too much (smaller wheelbase and fuller nose on the 91). I just got the jr. and I instantly thought it's kinda heavy in the front. Didn't notice it on the P9, but I had some other boards in between, so no real comparison. I like it but I wouldn't necessarily buy it again.

How is the wood

Skatewarehouse has it in stock and shows the top/side ply. Has a sticker and laser engraving on top which would lead me to believe it's ps sticx as they are usually the woodshop with that combo and placement but I had a had 2 aws back in September and both were bbs.
