Really stoked on the shape/dimensions for this one. Can we get a top shot?

Excuse the grip job.  Marked the end of a pretty solid flawless gripping spree for me.

If you haven’t tried them yet, try the deluxe supercush bushings. The purple 97du aftermarket’s are amazing.

Primitive 8.38 (sticker said made in China but top ply has bbs dimple)

I ordered two Primitive decks from their two-for-$80 sale and both of mine are like this. Sticker says “China” but has what I understood to be the BBS dimple. For legal reasons, the sticker is more likely to be correct than the dimple guesswork assembled on Slap, so I assume that more than one manufacturer puts a dimple on their boards. Either way I absolutely love that deck.

I don't expect this to be my daily but who knows...will be fun to go fast on and power through wheel bite at the very least.

I don’t think the dimple is a confirmation anymore. My primitive Frankie football didn’t have it. If you look and some new real or DGK stuff, it doesn’t either.

Crail hot summer box came in the other day and I just set this up instead of the hockey deck which still has plenty of life. Also have 4 weeks before my wrist is healed so this was fun to set up, but now I just want to ride it... Wish I had the skills to do something as sick as deepspace but this will have to do.

Chocolate "Couch" 9.25
Thunder 149 Ti
Spitfire F4 99a 54mm Full Conical
Bones Super Reds
Krooked 1/8" Risers
Pepper (came with box)& Mob Clear

Love that. Gonna have to cave and pick up one of these couch shapes soon.

Got this on the Uma sale since I wanted something a little less flat. Little bump up on size but feels good and can’t be mad about that bbs wood

8.3 Uma
44 ace af1 lows
Swiss 6
Conical full 53’s
Pepper grip which seems fine.

ive had a couple primitives this year, had this same deck actually. same dimple, same 'made in china' label and it sogged out within a week. so i assumed it was sub par chinese board. i was gutted as i really liked the shape. the bbs was also an 8.38 but the dims on the sticker were different to the chinese one. primitive are really hit and miss in the uk atm. there are some bbs floating around but alot of these china mades too same as toy machine, zero etc. too much of a risk/hassle to mail order. went back to crail decks as i know what im getting.

Curious if those boards have similar concave, or different concave, eg BBS has spoon like concave, especially in the kicks, but the other boards are usually much more flat on the kicks, same as most other woodshops on the market.

Also are you guys meaning a dimple as in a blunt instrument dot (BBS usually has about a 3mm wide dot) or more a nail mark in the wood?

Not a worry any which way, but it is interesting to me, given I am not about to see any of those boards in person, but am quite familiar with the different concaves, board markings, etc, as per the first page on the woodshop thread.

Thanks.

i found the chinese primitive was hella flat, both the concave and the kicks completely different to the bbs primitive i had. the dot looked as if someone had pushed a dot punch into the top ply between the bolt holes (more likely to be a machine made when lifting off the drill press tho.)

Back on the board in earnest for the first time since 2009 or so:

Quasi Eurofade 8.75x32.5x14.5wb
Venture 6.1
Spitfire F4 classics 54mm 99a
Swiss
Jessup
Ace 7/8 hardware

I’ve been playing around with different boards / shapes / sizes / trucks / wheels for a few weeks and this setup feels like home finally. I’ve never been a venture guy so we’ll see how these stand the test of time (and learning slappys)

Liking the longer wheelbase / hyped wheelbase from the ventures (I’m 6’1 with a size 10.5 shoe)

I do have a set of 54mm full conical 97a spits as well I want to try - I’m in Chicago and the streets are pretty gnarly so they may be better all around.

Grip job looks like I haven’t gripped a board since 2004 and have never gripped a board bigger than 8” lol.

Shoes are Nike Blazer GT Grant Taylor’s

Element x Timber 8.25
Thunder 148
Spitfire 53mm 99a conical
Hard luck 6 balls
Mob

Element Schaar 8.25
Indy 149
60mm wheels off some Walmart penny board
Hard luck 6 balls

I just got a new job within riding distance from my place and with the shitty rough streets and cracked to shit sidewalks on this end of town I wanted  to try the soft wheel thing to see how it feels. All I have right now is a bunch of 8.25 elements from their recent sale. It’s a bit awkward with the giant wheels sticking out like that, so I’ve got a girl couch shape on order with some 55mm oj mini super juice for some proper crust cruiser action.

I’m liking the way these boards feel, even if they’re not my usual dimensions. Just couldn’t pass on all the bbs wood at these prices.
